The talented player from Russia continues his giant-slaying streak that began last season and advanced to the second group stage over some of the biggest names on the scene.

During the Kick-off season of StarLadder, HellRaisers’ Alex Lostov became one of the players to watch. The Russian up-and-coming player became the nightmare of Team Archon, beating Orange, Xixo and Amaz and only lost to the two eventual grand finalists Kolento and Firebat.

From what he showed last night, Lostov hasn’t lost an ounce of his strength between the old and new season of StarLadder. Even though he started with a loss to Lifecoach, he came back by eliminating Zalae in the losers match and getting revenge on the Nihilum player in the decider, ousting the two heavy favorites of Group B.

The day in Group A, however, belonged to F2K player Gareth “Cipher” Rouse. Known for his victory at the Hearthstone Summer Omen and 2nd place at Vulcun Deckmasters, the Brit is on a hot streak and is entering the second group stage as one of the tournament’s players to watch.

The tournament resumes today with Group B, featuring last season’s runner-up Kolento, as well as StanCifka, ThijsNL and Surrender.
