GosuRankings report: Trump’s hot streak puts him in top 5 world

The “Mayor” is experiencing the biggest upswing of his career, as he narrowly overtakes names like Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh and Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy.

Although he originally entered the Hearthstone community as an Arena guru, Jeffrey “Trump” Shih has leveled up significantly. In 2014, his tournament appearances were scarce and he was – rightfully so – considered a tier 2 player, especially when compared to mastodons of the format like StrifeCro, Firebat or Kolento.

Since April this year, Trump has experienced a true resurgence. The “Mayor of Value Town” placed top four in the Xfinity Invitational and maintained a positive win-rate since, and this month his record absolutely exploded. In the span of two weeks, Trump took HTC Recharged and Vulcun Deckmasters, banking a total of $18,500 and defeating the likes of Lifecoach, Dog, Hawkeye, Orange and Gaara. His rise in the GosuRankings has been lightning fast, comparable to Lifecoach’s ascend to the top of the table in March and April.

Currently, Trump sits on #4 position in the world, just between David “Dog” Caero and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh. Despite his high ranking, however, the differences between him and his colleagues are minimal. Five points separate Trump from Dog while Kolento is mere one point behind, meaning one win/loss can shift the dynamic in the high layers of the GosuRanking.

While Trump experiences a rise, other powerhouses are currently struggling. Former leaders of the GosuRankings both, Lifecoach and StrifeCro are currently sitting at #7 and #8 respectively. And while StrifeCro is not scheduled to compete in any major tournament soon, Lifecoach will get a shot at redemption at the $25,000 Assembly Summer at the end of the month.
