Team Archon, an eSports company focused solely on Hearthstone, surprised everyone with their announcement stating that they will be venturing into Dota 2 by picking up TI5 NA qualifier runner-up North American Rejects.
Archon founder Jason 'Amaz' Chan stated that he has always been very careful in selecting teams to go under Archon, suggesting that he had his eyes on potential teams from other titles for a while now. "They have to be highly skilled and I believe these guys have the potential for success."
The current Archon team has indeed a lot of potential for success in the future. The team will be participating in The International 5 wildcard qualifier later this month after the team finished second behind Complexity Gaming in the North American qualifiers in May. The prize pool of the event is currently more than $15 million.
Their opponents in the wildcard qualifier are CDEC, MVP.Phoenix and Vega Squadron. The top two placers of the wildcard qualifier will secure their spot in Valve's prestigious annual Dota 2 event.
"I will be cheering them on to advance and make magic happen. You, the viewers, should cheer for your new Dota 2 Archon team as well!" Chan urged.
The players and manager of the new Archon team are understandably excited about the pick up as well. Team manager Greg 'WhatIsHip' Laird commended Archon's venture into Dota 2 and was very grateful to be able to represent the emerging organization.
Archon's team captain Scott 'Chad' Jensen also confirmed that Archon has provided the Dota 2 squad on a very short notice. "The team will be training very hard in the upcoming weeks in preparation for TI5's wildcard slots at our bootcamp graciously provided to us on such short notice," said Jensen.
