Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy is on the way to his first major championship title, taking a 4-2 victory over Stanislav Cifka.
Lifecoach came into HouseCup #3 as one of the tournament’s favorites and so far he’s been proving that he deserves that title. The Nihilum powerhouse won Group B with ease and then 3-0’d Spanish player REWIND in the quarter finals to make it to the top four, where he met reigning DreamHack champion Stanislav Cifka.
Even though in top form himself, Stanislav Cifka wasn’t that tough of an opponent for Lifecoach either. The Czech won game one after he queued Priest into Lifecoach’s Hunter but the latter managed to win three in a row with his Druid, putting himself on match point in game five.
Amazing Handlock play by Cifka kept him in the game, as he played a perfect defense against the Druid, knowing full well that the smallest opening would mean death by combo. The Handlock, however, was all he had left and Lifecoach had the best cure for it – the anti-control Shaman which we saw from Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk earlier in the tournament.
The early game turns were marked by the players’ dropping their respective giants and BGH’ing them in answer. As [card]Neptulon[/card] came down to refresh Lifecoach’s hand, the real problems for Cifka began. He had not yet dealt with the Shaman board in existence and murlocs were to come out shortly.
With a mrglrgrl’ing battlecry, Lifecoach emptied his hand before the smiling Stanislav Cifka, who already knew this was the end of his HouseCup run. Lifecoach, winner of Group B, became the first finalist of HouseCup #3.
Nihilum’s player will face the winner of Sheng-Yuan “Roger” Luo and Cong “StrifeCro” Shu. The American is not only the current #1 player in the GosuRankings but is yet to drop a game in the tournament, going 9-0 between his three matches with just Hybrid Hunter, fast Druid and Zoo so far.
