The playoffs for HouseCup #3 are set

StanCifka, StrifeCro and REWIND are the last three to advance to the final stage of the tournament.

After being defeated by Hoej, it was Gu “Immortal” Luo who Cifka had to face in the loser’s match. Immortal had lost 3-1 to Archon’s Jon “Westberg” Orange in his first match-up of the tournament and was, just like StanCifka, desperately trying to earn a spot in the final rounds. Unfortunately for Immortal, StanCifka was too reluctant in letting his opponent kick him out of the tournament. In a mirror match between two Mages, StanCifka immediately took the lead by claiming the victory and defeated Immortal’s Mech Mage. The second match went in favor of StanCifka as well, as his Druid was too strong for the Warlock of Immortal. The series came to a quick end when StanCifka again picked his Druid, this time facing Immortal’s Oil Rogue, and was victorious once more.

In the deciding match StanCifka had to face Jon “Orange” Westberg, who had just been defeated by Hoej and was looking for revenge. The team Archon player had a very good start and won with his Face Hunter and Freeze Mage, taking a 2-0 lead over StanCifka. It was then that StanCifka finally seemed to realize that one more loss would mean the end of the tournament for him. He first managed to defeat Orange’s Freeze Mage with his Handlock. He didn’t switch decks, which proved to be a good call, as he dealt with the Face Hunter of Orange. It all ended in a Handlock mirror, but in the end it was StanCifka who could claim the win and with that a spot in the HouseCup’s final round.

A tough time is still ahead for StanCifka. Not only did his opponent Hoej manage to get through, but many other notable strong players did. Yesterday Roger, ThijsNL, Firebat and Lifecoach all found their way to the playoffs.

Over in Group D, StrifeCro flew to an unparalelled 6-0 finish after dominant victories over Froggy and Amaz to take the top spot. Statistically, StrifeCro is the best player in the tournament so far with zero games lost and is looking forward to maybe taking his first offline victory since SeatStory Cup 1 early in 2014.

Second after him came Spanish player REWIND as the one of only two qualified players to make it to the playoffs alongside Stanislav Cifka. REWIND had to play Archon's captain and founder Amaz twice, losing to him 1-3 in the opening match but slapping him down 3-0 in the decided to join a strong top 8 line-up.

The competition will begin today at 13:00 CEST with ThijsNL versus Stanislav Cifka. Quarter finals are Bo5 while the semi and grand finals are both Bo7.
