It took less than five minutes for all 128 slots for the Hearthstone event of DreamHack Summer to be reserved. All applicants will now be placed on the waiting list.
When DreamHack announced how their Hearthstone Summer event will be held, players were ecstatic. There were going to be no invites, but 128 players chosen on first come, first served basis competing in a massive swiss format. With $40,000 on the line for one of the most anticipated Hearthstone tournament in the west, the hype was sky high.
Yet, it's almost surprising to see just how much the aspiring Hearthstone players awaited the opening of the registrations today. The sign up process opened at 14:00 CET and before 14:05 CET it looked like every spot was already filled.

All future applicants will be placed on the waiting list from now on, their fingers crossed about another player forfeiting his spot. Those who were lucky - and fast - enough to grab one of the 128 slots available should be informed via an email from the organizers.
DreamHack Summer itself is scheduled for June 13-15. The first two days will feature the swiss portion of the tournament, a total of seven rounds of games, while June 15th will be reserved for the 8-man cut-off bracket.
