Max out of EU vs CN tournament, Kolento steps in

Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh will replace Max "Max" Simpson in the $60,000 Europe vs China tournament coming on streams this Thursday, as the Brit failed to obtain visa in time.

A member of team Method and a player with televised experience, Max was supposed to be one of the veterans leading the European squad against the Chinese team. Max was one of the few known names that survived the gruesome single elimination qualifiers, the other ones being two-times DreamHack champion Thijs "ThijsNL" Molendijk and Magic: The Gathering veteran Stanislav Cifka.

The first reports on Max missing the $60,000 brawl in Hangzhou due to not obtaning visa in time came from the Daily Dot three days ago. In the same report, the name of Kolento was mentioned as a possible replacements, provided that the Ukrainian could get his papers in order on such short notice.

A blog post on the official Chinese Hearthstone webpage from today confirms that Kolento will indeed be flying to China. Counted among the very best players in the game and currently #6 in the world rankings, the Ukrainian adds a lot of punching power to the European team which, outside ThijsNL, has little to no major tournament experience.

The tournament is set to start on Thursday, cast by Dan "Frodan" Chou and Kevin "Monk" Dong. The pairings are yet to be announced.
