Good day for Archon and Tempo Storm in Kinguin Winter day one

Amaz, Firebat and Gaara were successful in Kinguin Winter's opening day as they move on to the quarter finals. More matches coming today.

Spectacular Priest and Shaman plays marked the start of the second Kinguin Invitational tournament, which opened with a David versus Goliath battle between Kaldi and Amaz. The IEM Shenzhen champion and team Archon founder started the Bo5 series with a loss to Kaldi's Mage but in the next three games he reminded the audience why he's the most feared Priest player in Hearthstone. Kaldi's Mage, Rogue and Druid all fell before Anduin and team Archon walked out with their first win of the day.

A number of disconnects tainted the otherwise great start of Kinguin Winter as Ek0p and Neirea could never finish their series. The Liquid player disconnected from the first game of the series and Ek0p was put on 1-0 score, a lead that he quickly doubled against Neirea's Priest. Unfortunately, the Ukrainian never made it to game three as more internet issues forced the match to be postponed to today.

In spite of this hiccup, the rest of the day went on smoothly. In the third set, Gaara relied on statistically the worst class in competitive GvG - Shaman - to oust Rdu out of the competition, beating his Paladin and Mage. The end of the night was now approaching, and so was its highlight.

A five game thriller closed the first half of the Ro16 as Firebat met Dog in an all-American showdown. Perfect draws from the world champion scoreboarded a 2-0 lead for him, but Dog wasn't ready to give up. With only his Frost Mage left, Dog came back in the series with clutch plays against the Druid and the Paladin. It was in game five that he was barred from a complete comeback. The luck of the draw returned to Firebat as dropped double [card]Savannah Highmane[/card] and [card]Dr Boom[/card] to make Dog's life a living hell. With his life total pretty much intact, Firebat sighed with relief as Dog conceded the series.

More games will be coming today, the most anticipated one being between DreamHack Winter champion Kolento and constructed beast Savjz. Despite both players known for their decorated careers, their recent results cannot be more far apart. Since his DHW championship, Kolento has been on a cold streak of losses and has only won one series in his last ten matches. Savjz, on the other hand, is on the high momentum from his ESL and Inven Invitational series and is contesting the Ukrainian for the #8 spot in the rankings.
