In the best tradition of Shaman spells, Crackle hits for varying damage and overloads you for next turn but it has the potential to do terrible, terrible damage.
Many Hearthstone players consider Shaman to be one of the most fun and challenging classes in Hearthstone. With the overload mechanic being part of a large number of core cards like [card]Lightning Bolt[/card] and [card]Feral Spirit[/card], Shaman players must always be mindful of their mana and looking turns ahead, calculating how the most optimal way to walk their mana curve. In addition, a pinch of randomness in their hero power as well as spells such as [card]Lightning Storm[/card] add another layer of thrill while playing the class.
That's why this new Goblins vs Gnomes card we have here is likely the most Shamany of all new releases. For 2 mana Crackle will deal between 3 and 6 damage - a way bigger range than [card]Lightning Storm[/card] 2-3 - to any target and will overload you for (1) on next turn. It is the fourth new Shaman card revealed to come with the new expansion and follows the theme of randomness which also appears in [card]Ancestor's Call[/card] and [card]Dunemaul Shaman[/card]
It's hard to imagine Crackle not being an auto-include in most post-GvG Shaman decks, even if it's just for the Shaman feel you get by playing it. In the worst case scenario, the card is a worse [card]Lightning Bolt[/card] or [card]Frostbolt[/card] but beyong that it has the potential to clear irritating 4 and 5 health drops like [card]Gadgetzan Auctioneer[/card], [card]Azure Drake[/card] or those value [card]Chillwind Yeti[/card]s. And if it hits for 6, that's pure value that not only can remove fat threats - say a taunted [card]Druid of the Claw[/card] - but can also bypass defenses to burn down the opponent. Add some spellpower from Wrath of Air Totem and Crackle's attractiveness grows.
