Chakki with a win at the first ESL Legendary Series match day

A score of 9-1 over three Bo3's crowned Keaton "Chakki" Gil the first match day champion of the ESL Legendary series. The ex-Coast player gets valuable points and tops the standings after week 1. 

Chakki made it to the tournament as one of the four invites alongside Reynad, Rdu and Hosty and quickly proved he was deserving of the direct seed. The American disposed of Gcttirth and Rdu with easy 3-0s and moved forward to fight Taiwanese up and comer and tournament underdog Pinpingho. The Asian became the only player to take a game off of Chakki but he too had to go home outplayed. With a 3-1 in the grand finals, Chakki swept the first ESL match day and banked valuable 80 points.

Chakki's victory marks the televised start of the ESL Challenger series. The long-running league has twelve weeks of competition ahead of it, working towards the $20,000 grand finals. Each week, players will enter the open Challenger Tournaments for a chance to make it to the Match Days where they'll meet invited high-merit players and vie for the eight precious seeds in the closing event.
