Tournament results page

Heroes of Cards tournament and as Powder and ek0p continue forward from group B, fan favorites Kolento and RDU are left out to cold. Check out the match reports here and don't forget to tune in to the semi-finals today, November 21'st and after that, the Grand finals on the 22nd. You can find the stream below.

Group B

Kolento vs ek0p

Game 1,2 and 3: Ek0p Warlock vs Kolento Hunter, Warlock, and Mage.

This isn't the type of set that Kolento wanted, but alas, the Zoolock 3-0 face roll happens to the best of us. This entire set was very quick and insane knife juggles, timely topdecks, and brutally efficient warlock play by Ek0p left Kolento without much of a chance. Check out the series your self, as it is better watched personally, as to allow the adequate cringe and painful such a beating warrants.

The last match, Freeze mage vs Zoolock was particularly entertaining. Will GvG put a stop to Zoolock's dominance?

Kolento vs Powder

Game 1: Powder Zoolock vs RDU Handlock

Rdu was running a cool version of Handlock that runs a Summon Portal and everyone wanted to see how it would operate this match. Powder, however, runs Zoolock, meaning that by the time RDU stabalized with 4 hp (Portal in hand) there were a number of cards that Powder could of drawn to finish the game. Well actually, only 1 card considering his board was empty and RDU had multiple minions. Soulfire was what he asked the RNgods for, and Soulfire is what he got.

Game 2: Powder Zoolock vs Rdu Mage

Normally, Mage is supposed to do very well vs Zoolock, so it was a natural pick for RDU. However, there isn't much to say about what happened here except "ouch". Rdu didn't last past turn 5 and Powder took a clear and easy win off of the insane openings capable of Zoolock. We all knew the deck was powerful, but the current meta seems to really lend it's self towards the reliable board pressure Zoolock is always capable of. Onto game 3.

Game 3: Powder Zoolock vs RDU Druid.

The game started off evenly towards the early stages of the game, which is exactly what Druid wants vs Zoolock. Powder was able to deal with RDU's threats, but when Zoolock only trades 1:1 they will eventually be overpowered by superior druid minions. Naturally, when RDU played a Cenarius, Powder was already running out of steam and the extra taunt minions took the game out of winning range, especially when RDU drew exact lethal next turn. Game 4.

Game 4: Powder Rogue vs RDU Druid

A turn 3 Spectral Knight followed by back to back Chillwind Yetis really set the tone for this match, as Rogue's early game answers fair very poorly vs large minions. Powder took nearly 16 damage from one minion in this round, and was never close to stablizing or having the HP to really "go off" with his miracle rogue deck, despite drawing both Gadgetzan Auctioneers. RDU played this game well, and early pressure is exactly the thing needed to stop a Rogue deck in it's tracks.

Game 5:  Powder Druid vs RDU Druid.

RDU sensed the potential comeback and wanted to finish this game quickly. Druid vs Druid is all about that magic number 16, and RDU had the insane turn 1 Chillwind, Turn 3 Shade of Naxramas, followed by another Chillwind on turn 4 to put sizable pressure. Powder used his ramp differently however, and played an early Ragnaros that quickly starting hitting all the right shots just when he needed it. Quickly losing minions and missing his one chance for lethal due to a Ragnaros shot, RDU concedes and Powder takes the series.

Result: Powder wins 3-2
