Forsen dominates Battle of the Best day one

The first day of Battle of the Best concluded yesterday and wrapped up the upper bracket, and it was Forsen who advanced to the grand final beating Hyped, Numberguy and DTwo 3-1 in each match.

Battle of the Best, the $2000 online invitational presented by MadCatz, wrapped up its first day last night with Forsen dominating the tournament to advance to the grand final of the double elimination bracket. Dropping one game in each of his BO5 matches, Forsen's line up of Hunter, Mage, Handlock and Warrior all served him well with each deck picking up at least one win.

In the opening round Forsen used his Hunter to defeat Hyped's unconventional Druid deck before winning a battle of Hogger Warrior decks. Hyped was able to eliminate the Hunter deck with a Rogue, but Forsen switched back to the Warrior to close out the series. After dropping to Numberguy's Shaman in the first game, Forsen then swept three wins with Handlock to take the second round game before using Warrior and Mage to reach the finals by beating DTwo.

Elsewhere in the tournament it was another mixed bag for Lothar, as he swept StrifeCro 3-0 for the second time in as many weeks, switching decks each time to keep his opponent on his toes, before losing to DTwo 3-1 in the second round. DTwo had already posted an upset of his own as the Blizzcon qualifier eliminated former world #1 Rdu from the upper bracket with a Priest and Warrior combo. In the opening series, Numberguy bested newcomer HitGirl 3-2.

The tournament resumes later today with the lower bracket match ups, as the seven remaining players battle it out for the chance to take on Forsen for the $1000 winners cheque.
