Ek0p takes the inaugural HearthStats League

Jan "Ek0p" Palys is the first HearthStats League champion and takes the lion's share of the $5,000. This is Ek0p's second tournament championship after taking the TakeTV Invitational in April.

Ek0p reached the playoffs after taking the second seed in Group C after Gaara. Paired against former team-mate Savjz in the playoffs, Ek0p showed strong understanding of the control classes and 3-1's the Finn on the back of his Paladin and Priest, earning a semi final spot against the best performing HSL player, Copenhagen Wolves' Firebat. This turned into another 3-1 with the German using the same classes that defeated Savjz in the Ro8 and a grand final match was inbound.

It was Gaara who awaited Ek0p in the final match. In a regame from Group C which he lost, Ek0p pulled out a class he hadn't showed in the tournament so far - a Warrior. Gaara went for Rogue in the first game and ended up in a one game deficit right off the bat. Ek0p's Warrior continued to be unmovable in the next games as well, winning three more back-to-back for a final 4-0 scoreboard and the HSL championship, slaying Gaara's Paladin, Priest and Hunter.

Ek0p and Gaara, along with the other two semi finalists Amaz and Firebat will also stay in the Champions League for the next season of HSL, while the remaining 28 players will be moved to the Challenger League where they will face 12 new competitors, fighting to climb up and fight for the prize pool of the upper clique.

HSL Invitational final standings:

1. Germany Ek0p

3-4. Hong Kong Amaz
3-4. United States Firebat
5-8. Canada Kisstafer
5-8. Poland Gnimsh
