IHearthU’s King of the Hill #34 concludes in epic fashion [decklists inside]

ROOT Gaming’s Xixo defeated Golden Coin’s Tranzit 4-2 in their best of 7 King of the Hill match.

King of the Hill incumbent Tranzit opened with his Demonlock against Xixo’s Control Warrior. The Korean built a huge board in the midgame by Power Overwhelming his Voidcaller and playing Void Terror, summoning a Doomguard for free. Xixo had the perfect response, with his dual Armorsmiths building enough armor to clear both large minions with Shield Slams. Tranzit then misplayed the sequencing on his final turn, life tapping into a Knife Juggler after playing minions.

After evening up the series 1-1 with a Priest deck built by Zetalot, Tranzit faced Xixo’s Miracle Rogue. The German was able to summon a free turn 4 Gadgetzan Auctioneer by killing Tranzit’s Deathlord, starting the combo train early and finding lethal with just one card left in his deck.

Game 4 was a Miracle mirror match, and Xixo set the tempo with a third-turn 6/6 Edwin Van Cleef. Tranzit hit it with his poisoned dagger but greedily left it alive at 6/1 instead of Preparing a Shiv to finish it off. Xixo again had the perfect response, Shadowstepping after attacks and replaying Van Cleef as a 10/10 on turn 4, prompting a quick concession.

Tranzit then selected his trap-heavy Hunter, an ideal counter to Miracle Rogue. Xixo misplayed on a critical turn, believing that Snake Trap was actually Freezing Trap. Tranzit filled up his side of the board and a timely Snipe on Xixo’s Leeroy Jenkins brought the series standings to 2-3.

In Game 6, the Hunter was able to drop Xixo’s Shaman to just 2 life despite never drawing Unleash the Hounds, but couldn’t topdeck the extra damage he needed to finish him off. Xixo took the series on the following turn with Lightning Bolt plus Rockbiter Weapon.

Tranzit relinquished the crown after holding it for two weeks with victories over Liquid’s Savjz and DKMR’s Brad. Xixo, now ranked #32 in the world, is your new IHearthU King of the Hill.
