Reminder: The Plague Quarter arrives Wednesday

The second wing for the Curse of Naxxramas expansion is expected to arrive this Wednesday at midnight, says Hearthstone senior game designer Ben Brode. Like the Arachnid Quarter, the Plague one will feature three bosses and six unlockable cards.

Starting July 30th, Hearthstone players will be able to earn even more Naxxramas cards to their collection as the Plague Quarter arrives. Three bosses - Noth, Heigan and Loatheb - must be defeated before [card]Stoneskin Gargoyle[/card], [card]Unstable Ghoul[/card], [card]Sludge Belcher[/card] and [card]Loatheb[/card] are unlocked. Two new class challenges, Hunter's and Mage's, will also be made available, awarding two copies of [card]Webspinner[/card] and [card]Duplicate[/card], respectively.

The first boss of the Plague Quarter will be Noth the Plaguebringer. Noth's hero power Raise Dead is unique in the sense that it's a passive one, rather than an active one. Each time one of your minion dies, Noth will summon it on his side as a 1/1 skeleton on normal mode or a 5/5 skeleton on heroic mode. Noth will also use his own special cards like Plague, which destroys all non-Skeleton creatures, leaving his army untouched and yours in ruins. Players will get Stoneskin Gargoyle as a reward after beating Noth.

Boss fight number two will be against Heigan the Unclean. Specializing in killing enemy minions rather than raising them, Heigan's hero power deals damage to the left-most minion of his opponent (2 damage for 1 mana on normal and 3 damage for 0 mana on heroic). Players will thus have to carefully place their minions on the battlefield, "dancing" around Heigan's hero power and minimizing the damaging effect his Eruption has.

Heigan's special card is Mindpocalypse which provides card draw and mana acceleration to both him and the opponent. Once players manage to get through his board destruction antics, they'll be given two copies of Unstable Ghoul.

The third and final boss of the wing is Loatheb, master of fungi and spores. Loatheb's hero power Necrotic Aura will directly damage the player for 3 damage (for 2 mana on normal and 0 mana on heroic), putting a clock on his on her head.

Three revealed Loatheb cards give some idea about what the fight will look like. With Deathbloom and Sporeburst, Loatheb will have great ways to control the board but he'll leave 0/1 Spores behind each time he casts one of these spells. Players will be able to destroy the spores to collect a +8 attack on their minions, getting a nice boost enough to finish the boss.

Loatheb will also have a lot more health points than the previous Naxxramas bosses. His normal version will start at 75 while the heroic version will start at 99 hit points. Upon defeating him, players will get two copies of Sludge Belcher as well as Loatheb himself.
