Packing a tangibly smaller prize pool, competitive Hearthstone will visit Valencia for a third DreamHack appearance.
Following the five digit prize pools at Bucharest ($10,000) and Summer ($25,000), most fans expected that the next installment of DreamHack's Hearthstone circuit will be just as big, of not bigger. Today's announcement, however, reveals a tournament with a bank of just a €3,000 which raises the question how many big names will commit traveling to Spain and take participation.
On the positive side, DreamHack Valencia will be employing one of the most popular tournament formats in CCGs like Magic: The Gathering - the swiss into single elimination 16-man cut-off. This means that all 128 players will play a fixed number of rounds, fighting to have the best possible score to qualify for the final bracket.
Said bracket will be a Bo3 just like the swiss round, feeding into Bo5 semi finals and finals. Each player is thus required to bring a total of three decks.
The tournament comes on streams July 17-19. Casters and prize money distribution are yet to be announced.
