Upcoming changes to the Hunter's spell Unleash the Hounds were anounced on the official battle.net Hearthstone forums by the Community Manager Zeriyah. The spell will get its mana cost increased from 2 to 3 in the next patch.
In the last month, the Hunter decks grew in power which led to great Hunter saturation in the ladder and tournament meta both. Unleash the Hounds, alongside cards like Starving Buzzard, Hunter's Mark, Timber Wolf and Scavenging Hyena, made the core of both the aggro and mid-range builds. The power to re-fill its controller's hand while at the same time providing a source of board presence, board clear and burst damage, resulted in outcry from players and community members alike, many pointing to the overpowerdness that UtH's sinergies provide.
The changes to Unleash come less than two weeks ago senior game designer of the game Ben Brode stated that they are monitoring the Hunters, but aren't planning any fixes. Apparently, the rise of the Hunters has swayed the balance team and nerfs are coming just before Curse of the Naxxaramas is released.
This is the third change of Unleash the Hounds since open beta which now put the mana cost in between the two previous versions (4 and 2).
There is no date announced for this patch in the post, but it's highly likely the update will happen this week during the normal scheduled maintance.
