Our gaming gift guide for the holiday season: Hardware, collectibles and more

From collectible figurines to gaming chairs, we've got your holiday gifting sorted.

This time of year can be pretty stressful for anyone participating in annual gift exchanges, but it doesn’t have to be! Gaming is a far-reaching hobby, so we’ve come up with a bevy of gift ideas for every kind of gamer out there - whether they’re a casual Mario Kart player or grinding away in League of Legends most days of the week. We’ve separated our gift ideas into different sections for your convenience, so you can easily find something to buy for all your loved ones regardless of what they’re into.

Here’s our gaming gift guide for the holidays:

For the League of Legends fan:

Seeing as Riot Games has been more than willing to double down on League’s explosive success, we’re spoiled for choice here! K/DA fans will adore the official Star Guardian Kai'Sa and Akali Reversible Jacket ($120), if you can deal with the hefty price tag. If you know someone who hasn’t played the League of Legends spin-off game Ruined King, why not go the extra mile and get them a Collector’s Edition of the game ($130), complete with an artbook, exclusive sketch, Bilgewater mug and more? For collectible enthusiasts, a detailed statue would make a fantastic gift, too. Take Riot’s Jinx Unlocked statue ($75), for example - standing at 10.6 inches tall with every iconic element of her design on full display, minigun and all.

Our personal pick? Nerf’s LMTD League of Legends Jinx Fishbones Blaster ($170) is a great pick for any League fan - it’s iconic enough to represent a game they love as a collectible, and remarkably detailed to boot. It only ships out on December 1, 2023 unfortunately, but it might be worth the wait. If that seems too late or too pricey, we’re sure no League player would complain if you gifted them some Riot Points this holiday season.

For the DOTA 2 fan:

DOTA 2 fans have plenty of options when it comes to gifting. If you’re looking for a more lowkey gift that fans will still instantly pick up on, why not grab an official DOTA 2 cap with an embroidered logo ($26.99)? Fans of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood on Netflix might also want to pick up a Nendoroid figure of Dragon Knight ($45), which comes with an in-game digital unlock. The Rival 600 DOTA 2 Edition gaming mouse is a sweet-looking peripheral, and while it’s out of stock on the Steelseries website, you could try picking one up via Singtel or eBay.

Personally, some TI11 merch sounds like a neat way to cap off the year for anyone following the tournament. The T11 Official Player Jacket ($94.99) is a pretty cosy way to keep warm in the winter, but the TI11 DreadRetribution Pullover Hoodie ($64.99) and Sakura Traxex Mouse Pad ($39.99) caught our eye too.

For the CS:GO fan:

We have a few gift ideas for CS:GO fans, and most of them aren’t even chicken-related. This esports-themed mouse pad ($11) is a pretty nice pick, for starters. If you actually do like chickens, check out the Chicken Heads Vinyl Blind Box ($13.99), which comes with a digital unlock for an in-game sticker. You could also head over to Etsy to score some tactical knives ($33.11) or a funny little mug ($16.99)

Our pick? The Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse ($109.99) might be pricy, but it’s one of the most popular mice used for CS:GO specifically. Its design allows for multiple comfortable grip styles, and it comes in a few nice colour variants too. The pink variant caught our eye, but it’s sadly sold out for now. All in all, a really fantastic pick for any avid CS:GO gamer lacking in a good wireless mouse.

For the Valorant fan:

Valorant is a global brand at this point, so fans of the game have a wealth of gift options to choose from here. If you know someone who loves collecting statues and figures, check out these official statues of Jett and Phoenix ($180) which boast a ton of detail at a fairly high price point. For something a little less costly, the Valorant x RockLove Jett Blade Storm Necklace ($85) is a really nice piece of jewelry designed after Jett’s throwing knives. You can also find a Champions 2022 Windbreaker ($95) on Riot’s official merch store.

Our pick? Check out Etsy for some really cool Valorant-themed merchandise, which range from more expensive items like custom keycaps ($39.99) and 3D-printed guns meant for cosplay ($166.65) to cheaper options like custom posters ($4.05) and a Sage ring replica ($23.74).

For the PUBG Mobile fan:

PUBG Mobile and PUBG aren’t the same game, but they thankfully have enough in common on the merchandise side of things. Displate ($44+) has some cool PUBG-themed posters that any fan would be glad to own, and these range from simple ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ references to key art from the game itself. The Koyo Store also has affordable miscellaneous gift options, ranging from a PUBG Helmet Pin ($6) to a PUBG Steel Mug ($12). For apparel, we’d recommend heading over to the official PUBG merch store for skateboards ($49.99), sweaters ($49) and T-shirts ($24.95).

Our pick? We once again turn to Etsy, where fabulous creators have come up with a simple but instantly recognisable PUBG Frying Pan Keyring ($5). You could always just get a normal frying pan, of course, but this one is tiny and has a logo on it!

For the Mobile Legends fan:

Mobile Legends has an official merch store in Southeast Asia via Lazada, but it’s not very comprehensive. You can pick up a 5th Anniversary Mouse Pad featuring Miya ($14), a few scarves ($6.29) or some summer-themed coasters ($10.99). You could also represent your Hero Roles via some Redbubble tees ($20.43) or do the safe thing and pick up a gift card for anyone in need of some in-game Diamonds.

Personally, we’d rather go for the purple V.E.N.O.M. ($18.35) or Claude & Dexter ($29) T-shirts available on the Lazada store.

For the Gamer:

The sections above fill very specific niches, but we’ve got a few more general gaming gift ideas for you too. For starters, check out Secretlab if anyone you know is looking for a good gaming chair - they have a bunch of really fun designs based on games like Overwatch ($544), Fortnite ($624) and Assassin’s Creed ($624). They also have some neat lumbar pillows, some of which are even DOTA 2-themed ($59)! Gaming headsets are always useful too, and the HyperX Cloud Alpha ($65) is a solid - and semi-affordable - option. As long as we’re looking at gaming hardware, try the Backbone One ($100) for a really good mobile game controller or the Logitech G305 ($38+) for an equally great gaming mouse.

If you’re looking for ideas that are less hardware-focused, we’ve got you too. Personally, I love getting new games to play through the holidays, so why not pick up some of this year’s best titles and gift them to friends and family? We’d spring for God of War Ragnarok ($70), Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ($60) or the infuriatingly addictive Elden Ring ($60). You could also grab a year of Xbox Game Pass, the first month of which should cost just $1. If collectibles are on your mind, check out this Nendoroid figure of Geralt from The Witcher ($149+), McFarlane Toys’ Mortal Kombat figures ($20) or this buildable LEGO Tallneck from Horizon Forbidden West ($80).

We’d have included the PlayStation 5 in this list, but that seems like a cruel thing to do when it’s still out of stock almost everywhere. Maybe next year!
