Team Secret and Tundra have advanced to the Upper Bracket finals, securing a top 3 finish at The International 2022.
Western Europe has been showing its dominance at The International 2022.
Both teams to survive the Last Chance Qualifiers were Team Secret and Team Liquid —from EUW.
Four of the eight teams left standing — Team Secret, Team Liquid, OG, and Tundra — are from the European region.
And the two that have secured themselves a spot in the top 3 are Team Secret and Tundra Esports.
Earlier today Team Secret took down Thunder Awaken in a 2:0 sweep. While the SA team definitely had a thrilling performance at the event and gave Puppey and Co a run for their money, it was the Team Secret's experience that came prevailed in the end.
In the first game, Team Secret's Leshrac pick for Michał “Nisha” Jankowski seemed to be a key to success. In the end, Nisha went 16:2:14, overpowering TA. In the second game, the SA team tried to remove all of Secret's comfort heroes but that didn't seem to work for them either. They just never were able to grab an advantage against the EU team and steadily lost any oomph and momentum they tried to build.
The second upper bracket series of the day saw EU rising stars Tundra vs one of China's last remaining hopes, Team Aster. And saw another 2:0 sweep in favor of the European region.
Basically, Tundra Slark won, Team Aster Slark lost.
The first match looked to be about even in terms of draft potential and odds. In fact, things were dead even for the first 26 minutes of the game before Tundra was able to seize the advantage and start building on the momentum to move forward to victory at almost 50 minutes in.
In the second match of the series, Team Aster took a Shadow Fiend pick (despite having a less-than-positive win rate) while Tundra went with Slark this time.
Although Team Aster started out looking to be the stronger and leading team, Oliver "skiter" Lepko's near-perfect Slark turned things around in Tundra's favor, bringing them through to victory and a spot in the upper bracket finals.
Team SecretvsTundra Esports will take place on Saturday, October 29th at 06:00 CEST at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
