Forget hack protecting, the game is exploited. This hack can be made within 30 mins from scratch, only an intermediate amount of knowledge is needed. Up to now people only hacked local mashines, now people try emulating commands - a new age in hacking has started..
StarCraft: Brood War was such a great game, that was essentially not touched seriously by hacker community for a long time. There was a maphack, statshack yes, but nothing that made so serious advantage in the game. But now, the whole competitive atmosphere of the public games maybe be potentially ruined, much the same as their entire official ladder.
This new hacks does not touch the pro-Gaming scene at all, it hurts mainly fastest and BGH community much more. As
Entropy puts it, it hurts even more the new players who very quickly either lose interest in the game or start hacking themselves. A seasoned BGHer or non money Melee player can always find an honest game. I can say this, if these types of hacks get out from hack-makers hands, StarCraft at Battle.net will go down the same path of Diablo I. You cannot imagine, how deep the rabbit hole goes, making the Drone to Mutalisk and receive the minerals by doing so is only the beginning.I know that this post will speed up the hunt for this hack, that has existed for months or years, but sooner or later it will get to the public. I saw a replay on Team Liquid.net few days ago, that is the first indication of leaking.
Blizzard did not prepare this game for this type of hacking, so many of the old exploits are still possible and what is worse, none of the current patches will be able solve them. A new patch might, but they will need to put some hard work for a change, not their usual 2 hours patch. Why has Blizzard never put any serious effort to correct such a minor things like 0x0c, AHI or drophack? Do you think they will totally revisit 10 years old code that brings them almost no money? There is no protection against this type of cheating, it is almost the same as Floating a Drone, Templar or so. The Game will simply allow hacker to do what he wants to do.
I hope Blizzard will listen to this moaning of mine and make 1.13 patch, but my experience is that disappointment is the rule. I am no MIT graduate, nor am I am a programming guru – but even I could fix such exploits. Other questions begs to be asked, will you be comfortable playing WCG online? What kind of assurance will Blizzard give us during the online WCG events at Battle.net? Blizzard when will we have our ladders back, as promised when we bought your product? When will the forgotten son’s be remembered?
