SG Nordic League

SGNL.jpg

GosuGamers are proud to present our next upcoming league - GosuGamers Nordic League (SGNL)! The league will focus on the Nordic StarCraft scene, and invites everyone to participate, coming from Sweden Sweden, Denmark Denmark, Finland Finland or Norway Norway.

The league will start with national qualification tournaments where the Top 8 getsinvited to the league, which converts into a group play. After the first group play, another group play will take place, and from there á la OGN style, we are going to crown the GosuGamers Nordic League winner!

How does SGNL work?

In order to settle which 32 players are going to participate in SGNL, GosuGamers will host four different qualification tournaments, one for each of the four countries. The tournament system will be Double Elimination, and there's no limit on the number of players to participate. But only the Top 8 will move on to the next stage in the league, which will be played in groups; four groups consisting of two players from each nation will play each other, best of one. When all the group matches are done, the Top 2 will move on to the next stage - the semifinals. This is how they do in Korea, and this is a rare system in the European leagues, so this will be pretty interesting.

The four qualification tournaments

Sweden SWE - 8th of January 2005
Denmark DEN - 15th of January 2005Finland FIN - 22nd of January 2005Norway NOR - 29th of January 2005The Sweden Swedish qualification will be held on the Saturday, 8th of January, when the Swedish LAN party OptiHack is held. GosuGamers will be there, and many of the Swedish elite will also be present.

The next weekend the Denmark Danish qualifications will be held, which means the 15th of January. Unfortunately during the Nordic World Cyber Games, Denmark didn't participate. This is another chance to show the rest of the world their steel.

The 22nd of January it is time for the Finland Finnish qualifications. The white and blue nation ended 2nd in the ClanBase Nations Cup, where they proved their skill.

The 29th of January, the Norway Norwegian qualifications will blast off to finish the qualification period.

Special maps for SGNL

With this new league, GosuGamers will present a new set of maps, made by
Canada Hautamaki, a very experienced map maker. These four maps will be played in the whole GosuGamers Nordic League, starting in the qualification tournaments. These maps will be released shortly, as well as more information about prizes, formats and other details about the new league!
