Recently there hasn't been much news coming out of the 
Australian Starcraft community besides Legionnaire's success in Korea. So we reveal our latest project, Aus-CL!
Deep in the desert outback of Australia, where few manage to survive, there are four proud tribes who roam the lands in search of Power, Honor and Glory. For many months each of the tribes battled against each other with fierce competition and rivalry in the hope of claiming this prized land for themselves.
As the battle draws to an end, two tribes become no more, bowing out with defeat. Leaving us now with the remaining two standing clans. Both battle tired, wary and bearing scars, now is no time to rest as they prepare for one last battle to settle the spoils of this war. It's now every warrior for his clan!
Firstly a little background information on the Aus-CL. A few months ago the Australian Starcraft community was really lacking in the events department, with the Clanbase Nations Cup being the only real event that involved our country. So it was decided by a handful of Australian clan leaders that they would hold a clan league and get some very much needed Aussie competitiveness back into the community.
The format:
The rules were fairly simple, each team played twice in the league with the matchups as 4x1v1 games and one 1x2v2. The top two teams at the end of the season to play in the final.
The clans:
aus.aus. have been the surprise packet of the competition, previously only being a regular (vanilla ) Starcraft team. Still this old school group had no hesitation at all in fielding a side and having some fun!
iPlaY.iPlaY. with their interesting tags is arguably the largest clan in Australia. Just head to brood war aus-1 on the West gateway and you are bound to see them in full force. They have some decent gamers so just wait and you may hear from them in the future!
KiS)KiS) previously stood for (Koreans in Sydney) but that all changed once they started to let outsiders of Sydney into the team. Knights of Infested Soul being the new name. KiS) is one of the smaller teams in Australia going around and focus more on real life friendships.
oGamingProbably the most known of the four clans. oGaming is the only international clan in the group, but to even things out only aussies were allowed to play in this league.

Week 1:
aus. > iPlaY. 4-1
oGaming > KiS) 5-0
Week 2:
oGaming > iPlaY. 4-1
KiS) > aus. 4-1
Week 3:
KiS) > iPlaY. 3-2
oGaming > aus 3-2
Week 4:
oGaming > KiS) 4-1
iPlaY. > aus. 3-2
Week 5:
oGaming > iPlaY. 3-2
aus. > KiS) 3-2
Week 6:
iPlaY. > KiS) 5-0
aus. > oGaming 4-1
As you can see there were a lot of surprise results and close games with the exception of the odd hammering. It was nice to see the league relatively even with each team earning wins. The closeness of the league was also surprising, going into the last round KiS), aus. and iPlaY all had a chance to finish in second place. iPlaY in last position had to defeat KiS) heavily, which they did, but then they had to rely on oGaming to win over aus., which did not happen.
So the grand finale is on this Sunday between
oGaming and aus.. The last match between these two clans was two weeks ago where aus. thumped ladder leaders oG) 4-1. Head to head both teams are 1-1 in the league with aus. leading on aggregate 6-4.The match will be played at 10:00CET in Channel: brood war aus-CL on the west gateway if any on-lookers are interested.
This league was inspired by the
French clan league » CFBW. The good news is that next season Australia plans to hold a second season league for 8 clans as the interest in our community has responded positively. I strongly urge other nations to take the plunge and do the same as it is a very fun event to hold!Links
