€550 The Evolution, first public Dota 2 tournament in the Philippines

Posted by Ulrich "KongoTime" Hanten 3 months ago
MANILA - Following The International and The Defense, a new lofty-themed tournament in the Philippines swings up to become the Dota 2 equivalent of the well established MPGL, the event which unites the community for a national DotA-showdown for years. Over 70 teams and counting will find their first opportunity to play Dota 2 this weekend, whilst competing for hardware and converted €550.

After the much acclaimed Mineski pro team already ventured into Dota 2, attending Gamescom, WCG Asia or currently the Premier League, the event department of the Philippine gaming temple follows up with the first public LAN. Compared to Dreamhack, interested players are not in the need to bring their own computers, and can, just like the Swedes, get access to the closed beta without a key.

Starting from the check-in time 09:00 LT on the 11th of February, the tournament will go through a classic group stage and playoff brackets, which will culminate on the following Sunday. The top three await Razer hardware and cash prizes adding up to €550.

Host and highly favoured flagship team MI.PColor will attend, but have a lot of games to endure before earning hails, as over 70 semi professional and amateur teams made their ways past the registration table with many more to follow.

Although no live coverage has been announced in particular, a look at the
mineski stream hub during the tournament days lets chances to catch action from The Evolution rise.

Until then, a trailer with strong similarities to The International's has been produced, attempting to get readers in the mood for the upcoming show.

So the other teams which never played dota2 have to play it for their first time at the tournament while Mineski had played it since the international?
And how can they play when they don't have a steam account?
It's shareable or something?

DOTA 2 LAN FTW!!!

LAN>ONLINE

I'm Hoping for more DOTA 2 Lan tourneys across the world instead of online where you got different pings and everything making the other teams less efficient..

@7 I think steam accounts are ready to be play with. I mean 5 acounts per team already logged in, all they need is both team will play the game even those accounts are not theirs.

Dota 2 is already popular in the philippines because many computer shops already installed the client so i think being competitive will not be a problem.

i think it's high time that the mineski events team will now acquire a really good and high quality stream, that will have a tagalog and english cast. this way at the very least we can accomodate the viewing pleasure of players and viewers alike that want to tune in to this "evolution"

just my 2cents

p.s thedloodymassacre never ceases to amaze me with his skills. #salute

sick video props to bloody massacre! but MI.PCOLOR shouldnt participate anymore in this as they are already several notch ahead than all other teams in philippine Dota2 scene. they should just play against the tournament winner and give the winner extra prize money if they could beat mineski...

#21 actually I think this is good for MI becoz this will give them the enough competitive playing time in DOTA2 that they currently lack.

they need this tournament as "practice" for the international online and LAN tournaments like TPL where MI is faring miserably at the moment.

and with renowned international HON team Duskbin joining the DOTA2 fray, PH competitive scene just got a little bit more interesting.
