SearchEvil Geniuses dropped from Premier League

Following the disbandment of Nirvana.cn, yet another team has been replaced in The Premier League; this time it is the Euro-American team Evil Geniuses.
In an official statement by The Premier League admins, some reasons behind this drastic decision was cited:
- EG was late by 45 minutes, two times in a row.
- EG forfeited their second game after giving away a lead of 1 to 0. It happened against Fnatic and Mineski. They wasted the times of their opponents, the PL staff and you, the spectators.
- EG didn't say a word or manifest any kind of excuse. They let us stand here with thousands of viewers, without a tiny bit of information.

There was some confusion with regards EG's original participation in The Premier League as Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen, one of EG's members issued a statement after the ban was announced saying that they (EG) had already decided to withdraw from the competition:
"They (the Premier League) didn't know that we had pulled out of the tournament. We discussed it last weekend when we had to forfeit the game against Fnatic, and later this week, Fear, MiSeRy and I decided it would be for the best to forfeit it because its timeschedule was a pain in the ass for us and we didn't want to play numerous BO2 matches on US West hosts."
In line to replace EG are up and coming American team Fire, who have shown some remarkable results in recent weeks beating the likes of Dignitas, AbsoluteLegends and other top Dota 2 teams.
Statement from Fire manager Brian 'Chappy' Chapman:
"Fire is very excited about being asked to join The Premier League as latecomers. We're honored to be given the opportunity to compete with such high-caliber teams and tourny staff. We want to thank the admins of TPL for displaying flexibility, fitting us North American's into their tight schedule. We hope to repay them with entertaining matches and top level play every Saturday. Once again, thanks to the admins and gl teams."

This means that all of EG's results will be nullified and all their games will have to be played again. In light of this The Premier League have decided to increase the number of matches each playday from 5 to 7. The full schedule can be found in the link below.

Maelk has posted his thoughts on this controversy.
We were set to play fnatic on Saturday the 31st of January, and throughout the week leading up to the match, there were several conversations between the EG-leader, FearDarkness, and the director of The Premier League, Ange, in which it was demanded of us to pull out of the Infused Cup the same way he had made fnatic quit the cup. We had no intentions of doing so, as Infused Cup had some qualities we appreciate and the prestige from playing it it by far superseded that of TPL regardless of the prizepool.

It's pretty simple: - It fit EG's schedule poorly + not that great prize pool + a couple of bad results --> EG witdraws to focus their energy on something else --> Premier League management gets butthurt and doesn't want to lose face, so they try to make it look like they made the decision(construing such arguments as 'they were late by 45 mins two times - everyone who has followed dota for more than three weeks knows how lol that argument is) --> 12-year old kids on ggnet buying into TPL's framing |

| I think its a good decision to replace EG in the tournament. If they cant be there when the games are supposed to be played, well then fuck off tbh. The americans seems like nice guys (retarded trolls ofc), and us east is never a problem! Though admins should actually consider banning all teams that cannot play on EURO or US EAST server. Ive said it before, and ill say it again. Playing on the delay of us west for example just destroys the game, it destroys the game for the viewers and the players. This is what made EG leave. If people dont understand that delay reduces the quality of the games then I dunno what to say. We for one cant even play our own playstyle on delay, caus the kind of action we usually do is sluggish and worthless instead. I could easily see my team start forfeiting games if we have to play on US WEST. IT JUST DOESNT PROVE ENOUGH. YOU THINK IM PROUD OF 2-0 vs WE? OMG LODA > CHINA |

I will summarise it here. Some truth insight about the drama, the issue is not about lag, GG.net users usually take story from 1 site and flame them, we need to look at the issue from different point of view, drama always happen, in this case I believe both EG and the PL is wrong, but at least EG is because they have 2 tournaments at once and the admin force them to choose 1 they choose the Infused Cup. the PL , on the other hand, is run by Ange, who was a head-admin of old-MYM, basically EG now, have some grudge with Maelk & co, (Maelk say 1 of the reason they leave MyM is because of Ange). anyway guys, please read whole comment of Maelk in the link above, have your own view, and comment, dont blindly suggest something. |

| Some considerations, questions for clarification purposes: TPL organisers-admins were keen to post on this site a poll asking us, the community, if we want EG to be replaced, turns out the team had already dropped. I find it rather questionable that you( TPL admins) posted the poll and informed us about it, but then again you never answered with constructive arguments on the community feedback to the specific post I am reffering to. The problem, for me at least, started long ago. We should be asked IF we want teams to be replaced in the first place, not by whom they should be replaced, I am not refering in the cases of DK and 10th, because these teams dropped nearly from the beginning. Don't you think that there should have been a better job done when you came in contact with the teams? Especially the ones that dropped voluntarilly without having even played a game, or in the 10th case, one game. I already mentioned in your "poll post" why the nullification and replacement of teams have made the whole tournament a mess, but I insist that it's an important factor to look up into. Finally Ange, something towards you, (I am not taking EG's side, honestly I don't care if it's EG or xP or AL or anyone), don't you think that given some facts regarding your history, with the words ShadowLeague, MYM, coming to mind, you should be more cautious when trying to make people choose sides? Because unfortunately, it all comes down to this, the artstyle drama, the tpl drama, comes to choosing sides. I don't personally believe the Dota community can afford to choose sides, once again, years after years this thing is going on, you want the community to grow? DO something, act responsibly, teams/organisers/sponsors. Let the game and yourselves, your sponsors, shine because you will be the team winning the next big tournament, not because you won a forum fight. |

| I'm being honest when I say EG isn't performing as well as I would expect them to be and what they did was a big joke. Not playing with Asian teams in USW, ha! MI has been playing with such a hellish lag in this league. I'd be happier if they just forfeit 'coz they are nowhere near performing any of their plays but still man up and stayed in this league. Now who's unmannered and unprofessional. I can't believe the ex-MYM team who I liked the most from DotA 1 is failing like this. *sigh* |
| TPL is such a joke. Teams wasted time playing games with ALOT of teams and beating them to later these teams drop out and guess what? They have to play the games they WON again, its like the 5 team they add. If someone drops just give auto wins to everybody. Make teams play 24214214 games because your tournament organizations is horrible and you invited team to play that it was obv they were going to drop out is not fair. |
| TPL is great, thanks to many changes we can see many games of many different teams. All the problems come only from the unprofessionality of teams, such leagues were always in Asia and were great, but eu clans just cannot make a one game a week. BAKA |
