Team Dignitas ruled out from The Brawl

Posted by Patrik "Raistlin" Hellstrand 4 months ago
Crăciunescu "ComeWithMe" Alexandru was caught streaming his matches during Dota 2 Brawl which is against the ruling of the organization's rulebook.

In a statement at joinDOTA, Thomas "Nuraun" Vejling, head administrator of the Dota 2 Brawl, tells the story of how they asked the Romanian player to shut down his stream two hours before the incident, which he respectfully did - for a couple of hours.

A while later he was caught again with his stream online which lead to the decision to disqualify Team Dignitas from the whole tournament.

- "This certainly wasn't the outcome we wanted, but we clearly stated the rules and we are perfectly sure that ComeWithMe knew that his stream was running even though he was not allowed to," says Vejling to joinDOTA.

He added, "with this, as well as last weekends incident, we hope that it will change the way players and tournaments interact and make the whole sport professional. Dignitas is welcome to play in our next qualifier should they want to sign up."

ComeWithMe has yet to release a statement on the Team Dignitas website.

Streaming his own matches would only give an advantage to his opponents.

But I guess rules are rules.

this is exactly the reason why shitty lol streams get more viewers than dota streams.

His name is not "Crac «ComeWithMe» Alexandru", it's "Crăciunescu «ComeWithMe» Alexandru". Get your facts straight!

Shitty rules, shitty decision, I guess the competition needed more US teams...

Heh shitty tourney from Gamereplays. They better stick with LoL and HoN tourney rather than messing with Dota 2.

What Dota 2 need now is a slot in IEM nad MLG.

#19 Totally agree about the "ma-sa-i proasta" case. Anihow, brawlers or how the heck you are called, we dont want to watch your stupid streams! I, and alot like me want and like to watch players streams, so if you wanna make some fair money send your mommies on the streets! Dendi has more wievers than the legandary caster Toby, why? cause community loves him...We wanna see CWM stream. end of story.

I believe those tournaments earn back some money from the streams that were put into the prizepools. So it is important that people watch their streams and not others. Not only that but, having more viewers might increase sponsors and that means increased prize pool and stuff like that...so yeah it was the right thing to dq dignitas.
#22 weppas 4 months ago
#20 And you think MLG and IEM will tolerate Players streaming and coming late to their own games?

@11: because then organizers dont make money obviously.

CVM can stream any time of day except when he is playing for money which obviously comes from a monopoly of straming said matches. This can be no surprise to anyone.

Personally i dont give a dime for nobodies who don´t wanna follow the tournament, I think its quite refreshing to watch as new strats are played and new NA teams emerge with succes. The organizers have secured sponsors and prizes for their event which makes proteams want to compete, they can win money by winning, they can´t earn them while playing. Sad for CVM and Dignitas, good for the possibility of getting sponsors in the future.

Stop protecting teams if they don't follow rules. If u want dota 2 to become big like sc2 u have to learn to follow the rules. At first u will say ill better watch a game between x and y even thou some rules are broken, not x and z, but it time ppl will understand and become more civilized and dota 2 will grow and u will still see the game between x and y but with professionalism. Sometimes even Na'Vi for ex needs to be warned for the late coming for plays even thou they show a good game after. Some of them don't give a fuck after winning The international.

So this decision like last weeks Fire, EG and Playmate decisions imo are really good. Look at Fire, they managed to grow and won the second qual w/o any doubts

That's why i really love the asia dota community, even thou they didn't proceed to dota2, dota 1 really made a mark there

I mean what is there to defend, how can people even be on his side? I mean I uderstand that you can be fan of someone but still be a little realistic ffs.

The guy is obviously greedy as fuck, he got warned like a human but still acted bigger then god himself and went against the rules and his team got to pay for it.

Why do you even defend this kind of behaviour? The rules werent unfair or nothing, just pure greed and cockeyness from CWM. Feels like little 15 year old kiddies play this game and not guys my age.

Sorry this behaviour is an insult to most 15 year olds they understand better

The smart people (most of the community) need to speak up and not let all these brain damaged clowns (such as #19) look like a majority. This was a perfectly reasonable ruling and I strongly believe that they were too soft and that Dignitas should be disqualified from the entire tournament for such blatant disregard for the rules.

The community needs to start getting behind and supporting those that run tournaments like this. They provide prizes, sponsors and competition. Something that seems to be taken for granted as of late.

Agreed I personaly hate when the game is scheduled at some specific time and I have to wait ... and as all tours rules are there to follow ... shit dont expect ppl to pay you for wining in a game and dont even respect the rules... and before you say shity stream the more sponsors this game gets the better and competition(bettwen stream sites even) just brings more money to dota 2 ... players should go and at least respect the rules but I guess as in any sport you have cocky athlets... end

They didn't follow the rules - They get kicked?

What is wrong with people, can't you seriously grasp the fact that esports wont grow if retards like CWN acts like this? Follow the rules ffs...

Professionalism doesn't come by beating down on an organizer of tournaments & supporting behaviour such as not listening to warnings.

If you guys want Dota2 to grow into something huge then understand that the most important factor is good events hosted by dedicated organizers. The events hosted so far in a beta stage is a blessing to the community and without it dota2 would never have a proscene.

+1 to DRB
GZ to dignitas for not getting disqualified from the entire event atleast, good decision by admins.

Tournaments is starting to dare force teams to follow the rules which is excellent :D

now we just need the players to act more professional, ive seen lots of pros with bad manners when streaming random publics. That need to change for this to become a respected esport.

CMW is a retard?! Oh, wait... that we new already.

But DRB is a bad tournament, with stupid rules and to be honest they take things too srsly..

When a tournament in sponsored by Twitch its pretty OBVIOUS that they would make such a rule... so the rule is FINE.

Though I agree the quality is their stream is so terrible, together with the shoutcasters that its really hard to watch their streams...

Also the fact that this tournament is not using the tournament version of the map is .. meh?

#44 DarkSaga 4 months ago
Yea but those sums of money aren t theres, they came from sponsors like intel, raidcall etc etc, so the money that are coming from streams are going in there pockets , the sponsors don t really care who is streaming what as long as they get theyre publicity, and before this dq who the hell was talking about this tournament? (nobody) so i suppose at least they succeded in this manner if they were unnable to do it otherwise

#32 Or what mate ?

CWM is a spoiled little brat that thinks he's entitled to everything. Guess what kid, you're not above the rules and with your reckless act you have pissed your team mates even more. I will not be surprised if you or some of your clan members part ways after this whole fiasco.

#46 Sentinelstrike 4 months ago
I see, well then thats just idiotic.. they should not be able to impose a rule like that, they don't "own" the rights to streaming the videos, neither can they do anything if I was to go boycott their stupid streams right now. So greedy ffs.

#47 Ramiz 4 months ago
Wow, people are actually defending him? "nobody wants to follow your shitty streams... shitty rules, shitty tourney!" The rules are fine, and people actually show how brainless they are in this thread.

You are acting like a kids, I am pretty sure that half of the people that said "This tournament is shit" would be fine with disqualifying some unknown or less known team, but suddenly it is ok to not follow the rules if you are Dignitas?

I was arguing with Tobi some time last year(I think) about community, and said that DotA community is bad, not just in DotA but in all DotA like games, and that DotA 2 will probably have the same community. He started to argue how I don't know anything about community etc... well guess I was right. The community didn't change a bit, as long as people support their favorite teams that bug abuse/cheat/break the rules, and still think that is ok, because hey, that is their favorite team, they didn't do anything wrong, we won't go anywhere.

And if somebody still doesn't understand why he shouldn't stream, read #40 and #43...
