Blizzard introduce BattleTags
Posted by Radoslav "Nydra" Kolev 5 months ago

Blizzard are introducing a new identity feature that players can use to represent themselves across the realms of Blizzard games and community boards. BattleTags will first be available within the Diablo III beta and later it will be implemented into World of WarCraft and StarCraft II alike.
BattleTags are and can be created as of now through your battle.net account (simply click this link) but currently only Diablo III beta testers will be able to use them. What the tags really are is a combination between a nickname chosen by you and a four-digit number assigned by battle.net.
It is important to know that BattleTags do not replace Real ID in any way - it will be just another way to find people on the battle.net and add them to your friend list. Also, it is not compulsory to get your BattleTag right away, unless you want to log in the Diablo III beta or post on the game's community boards. For World of WarCraft and StarCraft 2, the BattleTags will be implemented "in the near future".

#1 Yeah...
lol yep thought the same thing
so useless seriously, instead to make a clan option or online tours for starcraft seriously warcraft 3s bnet is so much ahead for its time, having tours and clan option i thought that would the standard for ever in blizz rts games
#5 wc3 was the most godly game ever created :) but yeah wtf is this shit? why do we need all these stupid codes? people want clan tags to clean up their names why is that so hard to understand?
its all about the money
@5 why do you need clan tags in sc lul
#8 to eliminate the wannabes using pro player names that this 'wonderful' bnet featured with full force and not having to rename your account name for the sake of a temporary team? agreed with #5 about the overall tons of useless, no few real useful features that old bnet had..
The name changing is also "Coming Soon!" for more than a year now. Few more years and it might actually get implemented...
