For a dota player it is impossible to get better than average player in sc2. You guys are mechanically poor.

TBH no. Some dota 2 players play more mechanicaly than a starcraft 2 player. Playing Dota will have u understand the basics of positioning in a map, escaping, hit n run, and will make u more sufficient in micro. Personally as a dota 2 player i am getting better faster than a person that wasn't playing dota before playing starcraft. Macro is a bit of a problem at start but it's ez to learn

It's two different types of game. It's like asking will i be good in F1 racing if i had been delivering pizza with my car for the past few years.

LOL first of all you don't know the definition of mechanical.

Mechanics = this
link
+ multitasking

Dota players get crushed because they can't micro their army while macroing at the same time.

i don't know what league you are in, but having detailed micro does not matter until you are in high diamond to masters league

was kinda meaning dota players in general do not have the mechanics to do well. in dota you micro 1 unit. in SC2 you micro 3 battles at once while still macroing. this is why there is the assumption of dota players not having the mechanics for RTS games arises. honestly, how many of the players you meet in dota pubs have good multitasking skills? 1 out of 50? they can't even call missing when an enemy is missing from their lanes....

anyways, unless you have friends to play with, i wouldn't start SC2 until heart of the swarm comes out. SC2 can be very lonely if you don't already have friends playing it. this might hit you very hard, coming from a dota background.

the SC2 UI is not user friendly and does not encourage any sort of socialisation. so unless you're ok with grinding out games alone and analysing your replays alone, i would suggest you wait.

the thing enjoy most about this game is 1v1 laddering at the same time as my friends and then talking about how our games went. this is the best way to improve because we will work out new timings etc. and more efficient scouting methods and times. the latter is very important at masters because 2/3 players all-in...

thank you for ur opinions, i will start to play starcraf2 cuz i think this game will be competitive for almost 5-6 years minimun. (look w3 is competitive right now, less than a few years ago, but still beeing, and is a 2003 game) anyway i thought sc2 have too much escene in rts now and in the future to, so i have pretty much time to learn.

That's just so wrong i have no words.

@v8master of course you can get good at starcraft2 being a former dota2 player. my friend TSMDyrus and TSMChaox from LoL are pretty decent/good at starcraft2 and they are LoL progamers.

You just need the right mentality and skillz.
