EDIT: Just found this on hltv.org

As per our initial investigation IGC looks like an event which will never happen & even if they are able to hold the event the prizes won't be paid. Key findings:
WTF Eventz Company founded on 11th January 2012.
Total capital of company is just Rs. 100,000 (USD 2000)
No sponsors, neither anybody is willing to sponsor them
None of the organizers have any knowledge of gaming
No info on background of any organizers.

Judging from the quote below, the way he speaks doesn't make it any legit

Dear 6415+ fans,
I am Kushagra and WTF Eventz is my company. First of all, there are many rumors circulating in the market that India Gaming Carnival is hoax; where the prize money wont be given and that the company's credential are seriously questionable. I just want to ask you all, Why?
I have started this with a vision. We are organizing this event with the hope that the gaming industry in India will not only find its rightful place but this event will also lead to the emergence of India as a new gaming hub. And to do that in a manner to attract every eyeball, we have a prize money of Rs. 1.5 Cr (USD 300,000).
Just a very frank question, would the prize money have been just 10% of what we are promising, will you be excited and enthusiastic enough to come? Would that have made sure that IGC is the biggest tournament of the India? Would that have even reached the ears of all Pro-gamers all across the world? I think NO.
As far as the company's financial background is concerned, i seriously don't understand what the problem is. Do you have any idea, how many companies are behind the establishment of WTF Eventz? Its easy to get a company's net worth and all other information from websites, but what that doesn't tell you is, who all are the people behind it. So posting things like "IGC is hoax", "No prize will be given" or "The company isn't that authentic" and all these rumors ain't helping us in any way.
IGC is for all those gamers who deeply wished inside their heart after watching different gaming tournaments all across the world, that why can't we also organize something like this in India? And when, someone is actually making those wishes come true, all we get is negative feedback and criticism from all across the world. Shouldn't this change?
I really hope for a spark of positiveness from all of you over here and all across the world. That would really help.

Thanks and regards,
Kushagra

lol just look at their company name. WTF eventz? A name generator can do better than that.
And if you look on their facebook page. There are many questions about their credibilty and they have not answered any of them apart from a statement from the owner of the company defending his event and vision without any solid material to back his argument. How are people supposed to believe they can pull this off when the owner of the company is replying to critics with equivocal answers.

just wtf WTF eventz. Do they think we're all blind and retarded enough to be persuaded by their cute speeches.. would be extremely surprised if teams actually attend. until solid sponsors, reputation etc is provided, i think everyone should consider this as a hoax (or at best, a shitty event)

Just read the edit in part of OP.
And it does seem a little weird that such a huge event could pop out of nowhere in india with no well known sponsors.... It will surely be interesting to see what comes out of this in the end :D

The no sponsor thing is BS. Just wait until this is over.

EDIT : Rs. 100,000? That wont even let them rent the area for a day. Leave alone the PCs and other gears. If there will be a tournament, then the budget will obviously be more than 100000, which means the source of this news is faulty, and we have no reason to believe the rest of their claims.

If there wont be any tournament at all, then its a different matter. But if there is one, then the prizes will be given. Atleast thats what I think.

"These are intended for people whose would really like a shot to win big prizes at the tournament. There are different passes available for different tournaments. Most of these passes are being given with an early bird offer of free Entry to the venue for 3 days.

Tournament passes are being updated, we’re coming up with a better and simplified setup for the tournament passes … they will be available soon"

http://www.wtf-igc.com/registrations/

Less than 2 months and they have yet to organize the registration for the participating teams?

Tried to look around and have seen no sponsor whatsoever for the event.
I'm skeptical, You do not put up a new company and throw a major event with no visible sponsors.(For an event less than 2 months away.)

-No comments on the news for such a big event
-They said registration has started but they have yet to display list of participants.

Edit: Scrolled down and read more.

I don't know if this post was legit but I was bothered by it.
