WC3L Quals: mTw eliminates Gravitas

[s]event_68[/s]

Two very important matches were played yesterday in the WC3L XIII Qualifications. Two teams have already made it to the prestigeous league whereas there are now four teams struggling for the last two spots.

mTw takes out Gravitas

The game that was on everybody's mouth yesterday, was Gravitas Gaming against mTw.PokerRoom. XyLigan gave his team an early lead by 2-0'ing the Korean Rainbow and once again proved what an incredible micro he posseses. But it proved to be insufficient as mTw struck back by taking three games. XyLigan's teammate and countryman Rob, did, however, manage to overcome NIghtWOlf but after impressive performances by Protois and Satiini, both taking down Gravitas' two Night Elf stars, mTw's victory was a fact.

It is indeed sad to see such a talented team like Gravitas fail to qualify for the WC3L after having invested in some of Eastern Europe's finest players and a team apartment in Moscow. mTw were, however, slighty stronger this time and it seems their recruitment of Rainbow and Satiini is paying off. They still have wNv to defeat though, but judging from wNv's recent NGL-Two performances mTw should be considered as the favourites to take that match.

Russia Gravitas Gaming 2:3 Germany mTw.PokerRoom
Russia GG.XyLigan 2:0 Korea mTw-Rainbow
Russia GG.TitaN 1:2 Germany mTw-Protois
Ukraine GG.HoT 0:2 Finland mTw-Satiini
Russia GG.Rob 2:1 Belarus mTw-NIghtWOlf
Ukraine GG.HoT
Russia GG.Quaix
1:2 Germany mTw-Protois
Germany mTw-hanf

PGS barely defeats Colorful

In the second game of the third Loser Brackets round, PGS.PokerStrategy faced the Chinese side of Colorful. The latter lined up without their Night Elf star Lyc but still managed to put up a good fight. However, PGS drew the longer straw in this game and beat them 3 to 2 (7-7 in maps) after some extremely close games. After a long match, undoubtly because of hosting issues, the clanwar was ultimately decided by the 2vs2 game where the PGS team took out LL and Wulin from Colorful by 2-1.

The 2-1 score was not the only one of it's kind as the two other submatches won by PGS ended with the same result, testifying the closeness of this match. The Undead player ShaDe, formerly known as SDmK, defeated the talented Orc player Wulin and Shriek, known for his extensive tower usage, won against Future. PGS' main star Paladyn did, however, lose his game to LL without even taking a map. The Polish based side will now face hoorai and should have a good shot at winning.

Poland PGS.PokerStrategy 3:2 China Colorful
Russia PGS.PS.ShaDe 2:1 China Colorful.Wulin
United States PGS.PS.ShrieK 2:1 China Colorful.Future
Germany PGS.PS.Thurisaz 1:2 China Colorful.Ace
Poland PGS.PS.Paladyn 0:2 China Colorful.LL
Hungary PGS.PS.LeaD
Germany PGS.PS.Bash
2:1 China Colorful.LL
China Colorful.Wulin

Both Round 4 matches are not to be scheduled until after New Year. They will be the final games of this qualification where the winners make it to the big stage while the losers will have to try again next season. GG-TV and Waaagh!TV coverage will be available.
