Dog and Hafu lead teams into the ATLC 2 fray

These are the second and third streamer-headlined teams invited to the league.

Only three organization-backed teams will take part in ATLC 2: Luminosity Gaming, Cloud9 and reigning champions G2 Esports. The other five teams will be mix-matches of Hearthstone personalities and streamers, making for what producer Brent “Backspace” Kaskel defines as less a highly competitive team league but a reality Hearthstone show with competitive overtones for the game’s most popular names.

The first mix-match roster announced was the “Gentlemen Boys”, led by Sebastian “Forsen” Fors and featuring Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall and Jan “SuperJJ” Janssen. Two more were announced in the last two days, starting with “Dog’s Furries”, the team of Liquid’s David “Dog” Caero.

The full American team will feature not just its eponymous captain but also deckbuilding innovators Drew “TidesofTime” Biessener and Ryan “Purple” Root. The trio boasts multiple appearance at major grand finals, Purple notably winning the 2015 Americas Champion and DreamHack Winter of the same year, Dog having silvers from Truesilver Championship 2 and DreamHack Summer 2015, and TidesofTime being known for his victory at WEC 2014, the highest paying tournament in Hearthstone at the time.

The second team is headlined by arena streamer Rumay “Hafu” Wang and is named “Orz” after her former WoW arena team. Hafu’s trio will include Tempo Storm’s Haiyun “Eloise” Tang and Wu “Neobility” Guangnan of Team Celestial. The last streamer-led team is expected to be the one of Jeffrey "Trump" Shih.

ATLC 2 is in its eleventh day of Kickstarter crowdfunding with 19 day and 95 per cent of the funding to go.
