When you think of Europe, the first names that pop into your mind regarding their presence at the Internationals are Alexander 'XBOCT' Dashkevich and Gleb 'Funn1k' Lipatnikov. XBOCT(present at all TIs) and Funn1k (present at TI2,3 and 4) will miss TI6 due to the that fact Team Spirit fell to Team Toast at the Open European Qualifiers in a BO1. XBOCT made his debut alongside Danil 'Dendi' Ishutin and Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov at TI1, where they easily cruised through the Upper Bracket, facing EHOME in Grand Finals, and winning 3-1. XBOCT and NA`VI had an almost identical run at TI2, but fell to Invictus Gaming in Grand Final, while Funn1k was playing for Darer and was knocked out of the tournament by Team DK.

As their popularity grew, at The International 2013 NA`VI faced Alliance in an intense BO5 Grand Final with Funn1k and XBOCT playing together again. At TI4, NA`VI had a short run, being eliminated by Cloud9 in the Lower Bracket. Funn1k's and XBOCT's last performance together with the Ukrainian squad was at TI5, which famously didn't end well for NA'VI, and TI6 will be the first time the tournament has not been graced by one or both of these legends.

Two other big names to mention for Europe are Weh 'SingSing' Yuen and Pittner 'b0ne7' Armand, both well known players from Cloud9. At TI2, SingSing played alongside Dominik 'Black^' Rietmeier and Kuro 'Kuroky' Takhasomi for mousesports, where they didn't progress past the first round of the Lower Bracket. Their first International together was TI4 under the Cloud9 banner. The team started in the Lower Bracket where they beat NA`VI 2-1, but lost to the TI2 champions, Invictus Gaming. During TI5, SingSing was playing for Burden United, but he lost the chance of particiapting at the biggest event of the year, in the European Open Qualifiers againts Ninjas in Pijamas.

b0ne7, on the other hand, was still playing with Cloud9 and received a direct invite to TI5. At the main event, the team started in the Upper Bracket and got knocked down to the Lower Bracket by the Wild Card team, CDEC.Gaming. Cloud9's performance in the Lower Bracket was short, the team was eliminated from TI by Vici Gaming.

After TI5, b0ne7 and SingSing united their forces once again in Kaipi, where they made it to the 16th round of the first European Open Qualifiers, then lost to the Macedonian team Global Challengers. The team failed to achieve victory in the second European Qualifiers versus E-Lab, taking away their chance to compete further in the event.

Artsiom 'fng' Barshack, Sergey 'G' Bragin and Ilya 'IllidanSTR' Pivcaev will also be missing this year's TI. Illidan made his debut at TI3 with Virtus.Pro, via direct invite. The team's evolution in the event was a short one, eliminated by Team Zenith in the Lower Bracket. The following year, G joined the squad and participated at the qualifiers forTI4.

In 2015, fng joined Virtus.Pro and became the captain, leading the team into TI5. The Russians received a direct invite to the main event, but started off in the Lower Bracket where they faced Fnatic, compLexity Gaming, Team Secret and were later eliminated by LGD Gaming by 2-0.  Later that year, Illidan departed from Virtus.pro and participated at the European Open Qualifiers for TI6 with Fantastic Five.  His performance was limited, the team was eliminated by Escape Gaming. Fng and G continued to play for Virtus.Pro but 2016 proved to be extremly tough year for them and VP had to play regional qualifers for TI6, where they got knocked out by Vega Squadron, event after which the team disbanded.

Dominik 'Black^' Reitmeier is another big name that will miss TI6. Black^ played for mousesports at TI2, where his team only managed to win in the group stage. In the main event his team started in the Lower Bracket and was eliminated by EHOME.cn. The following year's TI wasn't a good one either for mousesports , starting off in the Lower Bracket again they fell against LGD International. In 2014, Black^ joined CIS Game, a Chinese eSports Club with no big achievements. Since his deaprture from China he struggled to find a stable team, missing TI5 as well.

This year, the German player joined forces with Austin 'DotaCapitalist', William 'Blitz', Ben 'Merlini' Wu and Ioannis 'Fogged' Loucas and participated in the TI6 American Open Qualifiers as Vegetables Esports Club. The team failed to qualify for the tournament as they were defeated by EG Bulba.

Andrey 'MAg-' Chipenko, currently playing for Vega Squadron, will not be present at TI6 due to the fact that his team was ousted by the Greeks from Ad Finem in the Regional Qualifiers for Europe. His first International was back in 2012, tournament where he played alongside Funn1k and got eliminated by Team DK. The Ukrainian player missed TI3, but for TI4 he joined Team Empire.
