Germany Christoph "Mondragon" Semke, non-Korean gamer 2005

Christoph Semke, more known as Germany ToT)Mondragon( was contacted by GosuGamers earlier this morning, and expressed his feelings in a wild way, spamming the IRC channel with exclamation marks and positive words. When asked if he expected to get this award, he says that he thought either he or
Russia Androide (which indeed ended up at second place) would take the prize.
- Both of us had a very very good year. He was #2 ECG while I beat him though he did a very good job at wcg. I just had more tournaments like GIGA and ESL to win and that might be the reason I finally got the award, Mondragon says. Mondragon was also chosen partly for his leadership role in his clan Templars of Twilight.

Not particularily surprised

award-gamer-mondragon.jpgMondragon also points out that he was not particularly surprised that he got the awards even though he did not take part in World Cyber Games, the most prestigious tournament, and considered the tournament where foreign players can really compare themselves to others. Mondragon has had a great year, with wins in German leagues such as the ESL, GIGA Liga and doing good in offline tournaments such as Samsung European Championship (SEC) and BlizzCon. GosuGamers congratulates the German player, and hope for a just as good year in 2006.

2005's non-Korean gamer

Germany Mondragon (12 nominations)
"Played well at BlizzCon, probably the current #1 foreigner."
"GIGA League winner, BlizzCon player, easily the best player of the year."
"He won the Samsung European Championships 2005, won GIGA-liga for the third time in a row, won Electronic Sports League, is the leader of the best non-korean clan, and one of the most consistant players out there for years."
"For being a constant good player over long time now and being an amazing teamleader, always able to keep that team running!"
"He is the best non korean player and very mannered."
"Good, better, Dissy..."
"During this year he has proved that he is the best, even though he skipped World Cyber Games. He's showed that he really is the best Zerg vs Protoss player in the World, and also one of the hottest ZvT and ZvZ players."
