Ferrari_430: I have never thought of giving up in my Dota career

Luo Feichi, better known as Ferrari_430, is a well known personality in Dota 2 who has cemented himself as one of the best mid laners across the globe. Nicknamed 'The Pianist', his flashy plays, particularly on Invoker and Templar Assassin has won the hearts of millions.

With numerous titles under his belt, Luo, has managed to win The International 2 alongside G-League with his team Invictus Gaming thereby gaining worldwide reputation and recognition. He was interviewed by 2P.com during his recent visit to 17173's office in Fuzhou, China, although, the questions this time were asked by the community itself.

In this community based interview, Ferrari_430 speaks about the uprising Dota 2 scene in China, his favourite player (any guesses?), the new meta on mekansm Invoker and why he doesn't prefer Aghanim Sceptre on him (seen as the typical build in pub games). He also shares his thoughts on the lack of fresh blood entering the Chinese competitive scene.

What are your personal feelings about the Chinese scene having a lack of fresh blood at the top lately, and do you think this is caused by inaccessibility to enter top-tier play, or a lack of top caliber players?

Since War 3 Dota and Dota 2 have been released for many years, most of top-tier players now are well experienced and hardly make mistakes. They have 70%-80% winning rate when they play with those new teams. Moreover, the big tournaments in China use league matches format in which those fresh bloods even couldn’t reach the prize pool. It’s a vicious circle. Although there are some new teams entering the China Dota 2 scene every year, they couldn’t win any prize in one or two years, then they disband, retire or change their profession.

The main reason is there are no lower leagues in which those fresh teams can play against other teams of their level. Instead, they play against the likes of Invictus Gaming, LGD-Gaming or Team DK in the first round. The players and the sponsors will lose heart over time and then the new teams disband.

iceiceice said that iG depend on you too much as a solo mid to do well for the whole team. He also said position 1 and 3 should take more responsibility and supports should gank more. Your thoughts on this?

We usually put one ganking hero on a random lane. Firstly, our 1 position rarely ganks. If we pick Nature Prophet or Timbersaw, that don’t have control ability on hardlane, we are more likely to put a ganker on mid lane. IG are inclined to play pushing and ganking system and seldom defend. All in all, it depends on heroes, our 3 position hero will gank if conditions permit.

In G-league grand finals, DK banned Dragon Knight and Storm Spirit in all three games. Do you think that it affected your mid in comparison to other mid heroes?

I feel it affected me a little. DK are kind of afraid these two heroes because they are inclined to play laning and pushing line-ups. On one hand, Dragon Knight is a hero who can start to push in earlier stage. If we put down their towers quickly, it’s hard for them to lane and farm. On the other hand, Storm Spirit is a very far initiator and counter DK’s system heavily.

Last but not the least, he also sheds his views on G-League grand finals against DK wherein both; Dragon Knight and Storm Spirit were banned in all three games.
