G-League 2013: DK dodges bullet, defeats Titan 2-1

DK somehow made their push heavy line-up work despite the team failing in the first few minutes, narrowly escaping with a 2-1 win against Titan in their first game of G-League.

While many were excited about Mushi's match-up with his former team, not many people actually expected Titan to give DK a hard time. If we examine the Malaysian team's recent form, most would forecast DK to have scored two quick wins after Titan lost four of their last five matches, all against South-East Asian teams.

Titan tried to be creative in the first game as they went with a Venomancer-Ancient Apparition line-up, but DK crushed them with their CK-Wisp combo. With three BKB for the Chinese team,  Titan's line-up could not do much. Titan called GG at the 36th minute mark of the game.

The Malaysian team had a better start on the second game, using the Keeper of the Light-Naga combo reminiscent of last year's meta. DK pounced back and took the lead, but Titan made an exhibition of the pain playing against these heroes. They defended with illuminate spam, and Naga Siren carefully split-pushed and farmed all over the map. The Chinese team was able to take the middle barracks first, before they found themselves needing to defend against the sieging Naga. Meracle, Titan's newest member, showed off his farming skills as he reached 600 cs within 44 minutes of the game, and DK eventually conceded as they failed to defend against the Malaysian team's push.

DK had enough of the Naga, as they wasted no time banning her in the third game. They went for a pushing line-up with Pugna, Crystal Maiden and Chen, while Titan went with a cheeky ganking support duo of Bane and Mirana coupled with the aggressive Nyx Assassin mid.

The start was absolutely disastrous for DK as they gave up kills to the incessant ganks of Titan. Nature's Prophet was able to get a lot more experience than DK would have wanted him to after he made a good play to pull the creeps and dsirupt the early 3 minute push coming from DK. The Malaysian team showed spirit, and they were arguably winning all their lanes.

DK looked desperate, and they grouped up together as they try to push their way into the towers of Titan. However, clumsy play by Titan, coupled with the pesky Nether Ward from BurNing's Pugna on top of every team fight, cost them skirmish after skirmish. The tides were suddenly turned against the Malaysians, and DK was able to execute their initial plan once again. With a total of four Necronomicons on their team, three of which were fully upgraded, the Chinese team pounded their way into the high ground and forced Titan to call GG in the 30-minute mark after losing all 3 barracks.

Tomorrow's match will be between LGD.cn and DT^Club. The group stage started yesterday, and it will run daily until the 16th of December. The top team of each group will advance straight into the semifinals, while the second and third placers will still have to play each other on a double-elimination format to determine the final two advancing teams. All games are played on a best-of-three series.
