The IPL Season two qualifiers have begun, looking very reminiscent of the TSL qualifiers of a few months ago. Of the many high-caliber names to attend - stars from the likes of EG, Fnatic, Mouz, Dignitas, ROOT, FXO, Millenium and others - eight per qualifier advance to the Proleague. Now we've reached the end of qualifier #1, and many were surprised by the results.
Rising European team Millenium had two Terrans qualify for them - Diestar and Tarson. They're followed by fellow Europeans mouzMana and Liquid`Ret. North American qualified players include Stalife from Complexity and sixjaxViBE. Peruvian BroodWar gosu Fenix also qualifies, having trumped a dangerous section of bracket that featured Liquid`Tyler and ROOTDrewbie. But perhaps the most surprising qualifier of all is Destiny, a popular masters level Zerg livestreamer, known more for his personality and ability to have fun at high levels than for his tournament appearances.
Competition was tough; many top names, such as Drewbie, Cruncher and others were eliminated in the first or second round. The round of 16 especially saw several fierce battles. Expect the next three qualifiers to become more and more competitive as the available Proleauge seeds become more limited. Each qualified player is guaranteed a minimum of $200, with the top prizes skyrocketing up to a fantastic $15,000 and more at stake each round, as well as the opportunity to make repeat appearances in subsequent seasons.
Qualifier #2 has already begun and advanced to the round of 32, and includes stars such as White-Ra, TLO, Minigun, Brat_OK and others; signups for qualifier #3 are available in the thread below.
