Valve plans ahead for Fall 2018 Pro Circuit

Valve has already started to look forward to the Fall 2018 Pro Circuit, releasing limited info and plans including some changes.

As we encroach on the halfway mark of the 2017-2018 Pro Circuit season, Valve is already aiming at a head start on the season following TI8. Typically a company that is hands off and engages in limited communication regarding tournament structure, the information has been well received by members of the community. Planning ahead is most likely in response to feedback and an evaluation of the current season - most specifically focusing on both scheduling which has been a constant obstacle with so many events and various changes so far and continuity in number of participating teams.

Although we're still in the heart of the 2017/2018 competitive season, it's time to start planning for next year's Majors and Minors. We're requesting that any organizations who are interested in hosting a Major or Minor in Fall 2018 email us with their proposals.

For the next round, it looks like there should be three Majors in the Fall 2018 season with one taking place each month starting in October. Minors will be planned accordingly around those. All applications for the season's events will need to be submitted, along with all details, by February 16th. The early submission deadline and more organizational structure seems to be an effort to correct some of the complaints voiced regardling overlaps, close timelines and conflicts.

In addition, Valve is now requiring that all Majors accomodate a 16 team format - an area that was inconsistent and drew heavy criticism for limited participation for teams when such a large stake of International qualifying points were on the line.

In the meantime, there are still approximately 13 Pro Circuit events on the calendar for the remainder of this year with ESL One Genting Minor getting next up - starting in one week, January 23rd-28th.
