First on the 2018 Dota 2 events calendar, Captains Draft 4.0 will kick off in Washington, DC tomorrow, January 4.

The tournament stands out as the only one from the Dota Pro Circuit to be played in a different game mode than the traditional Captain’s Mode, and is also the only LAN on the circuit to be played on U.S soil before The International 2018.

Captains Draft 4.0 accommodates eight teams fighting for the $300,000 prize pool and 300 TI8 qualifying points and the battle will start tomorrow with a full day of group stage matches. The eight participating teams are split into two groups of four and will play each other in a GSL best-of-one game format for the entire duration of day one of the event. At the end of the day nobody gets eliminated, as the group stage final results only determine the seeding in the playoffs bracket.
