ESL One Hamburg Major details; schedule and prize distribution

Posted by Cristy "Pandoradota2" Ramadani at 05 October 2017 18:00

Only three weeks away, ESL One Hamburg 2017 has released the schedule and prize money distribution for the first Major of the ProCircuit system.

Eight teams - Europe Team Liquid, China Newbee, Europe Team Secret (Europe qualifier), Russia Virtus.Pro (CIS qualifier), China Keen Gaming (China qualifier), Philippines HappyFeet (South East Asia qualifier), UnitedStatesEvil Geniuses (North America qualifier), Brazil SG e-sports (South America qualifier) will compete in the first Major of the new system and year, starting on October 26th. Over the course of four days, teams will engage in a battle for the lion's share of the TI8 qualifying points and $1,000,000 prize pool.

To squeeze in as much action as possible in only four days- including group stage, the tournament is being held as single elimination brackets with a best-of-three grand finals.

Due to the arrangements with the venue, sponsors, and broadcasters that were already in place, it wasn’t possible for us to adjust the tournament structure after it was announced that ESL One Hamburg would become a Major. Scheduling and budget restrictions limit us to four days of play, which leaves us with not enough time and resources to accommodate 16 teams. Hence the first ever eight team Major with Bo3 finals. While we have to make due with a Bo3 final for ESL One Hamburg, we can assure you that our other Majors later in the season will have a Bo5 grand final deserving of a Major.
