The AMD SAPPHIRE Dota Pit minor closed qualifiers are over, all the eight participants being now known.
With all the first four minors qualifiers batch over and SG e-sports with three of them secured, plus the ESL One Hamburg major, the Brazilians can be clearly regarded as the team to watch in the South American region. When the new season qualifiers started we already had a small region rivalry going on, with Infamous freshly returned from TI7 and SG e-sports looking to prove that their Kiev Major qualification and main event run was not just a fluke. Both teams underwent massive roster changes in the post TI7 shuffle and clashed several times in all the minors and majors regional qualifiers.
While Infamous secured tickets for one Major (DreamLeague Season 8) but no minors, SG e-sports emerged victorious in three minors and one Major South American qualifiers. Their fans will be happy to hear that SG e-sports will be kicking off the Pro Circuit with StarLadder i-League Invitational #3 from Kiev, Ukraine, then they will be flying to Hamburg for the ESL One Major, from where they will be going to Split, Croatia for the Dota Pit minor and they will be changing the continents to play at the Perfect World Masters minor from Shanghai, China.
Last night, the revamped SG e-sports roster fought their hearts out in the AMD SAPPHIRE Dota Pit best-of-five SA grand finals and pushed the series to the decisive game 5 after being lead 2-1 by Digital Chaos SA. Dota Pit is the third minor of the Pro Circuit and as all the minors from this end of the year, it has a $300,000 prize pool and 300 Circuit points to offer to the eight attending teams.
Team Liquid and Newbee, the winners and the runners-up at The International 2017 received the two direct invites at this minor, the other six team joining them being regional qualifiers winners.
