Keen Gaming are the first qualifiers for ESL One Hamburg 2017

Beating out some of the biggest teams in China, Keen Gaming claimed their spot at ESL One Hamburg 2017.

On September 10th 2017, the players of EHOME.Keen and EHOME.Luminous both left the organization of EHOME and formed a new brand, named Keen Gaming – which has 2 current squads; Keen Gaming and Keen Gaming Luminous. Both teams went into the China Open Qualifiers for ESL One Hamburg 2017, in separate groups but unfortunately for KG.Luminous, they were eliminated in the semi-finals. However, Keen Gaming found their footing and took down CDEC and CDEC Avenger to claim a spot in the China closed qualifier where they would join three other open qualifier victors and eight invited teams to battle for a single spot in Hamburg.

KG were thrown in against For The Dream in their first series and after taking them down, the squad made light work of everyone standing in their way to reach the finals. Beating both Invictus Gaming and iG.Vitality on their path to the finals, the team then would face LGD Gaming in the finals. In a magnificent five-game series, KG took down the team who had finished 4th at TI7 merely a month ago and with that, they booked their place at the ESL One Hamburg major.

The main event will feature eight teams, with Newbee and Team Liquid obtaining direct invites – one team from each region; China, CiS, Europe, North America, South America and South East Asia, would fight it out in regional closed qualifiers to obtain the only available spot for their respective region. Keen Gaming were able to beat out some of the top teams in China and take the CN slot, while all other regions have their qualifiers beginning later today. The main event will take place in late October and will be the first major of the new Dota 2 season. You can keep up with all the action of ESL One Hamburg 2017 here.
