All you need to know about the one million dollars DreamLeague Major

DreamLeague released all the details on their upcoming Major. Open and regional qualifiers dates and format, main event prize pool distribution and the broadcast talent, are all known now.

The new minors/majors system forced DreamLeague to change their famous by now format - LeaguePlay into double elimination LAN playoffs - to actual six region qualifiers and eight team line-up LAN playoffs.

With the format adjusted accordingly, the eighth season of DreamLeague will kick off on the 19th September with the open qualifiers, held on Faceit, followed by regional qualifiers that will run till mid of November. The one million dollars DreamLeague playoffs will be held during the DreamHack Winter 2011, across four days, December 1st to the 4th in Jönköping, Sweden at a yet to be announced arena. With over two months to go until the playoffs LAN, the organizers announced the qualifiers dates and format for each region. For the open brackets, in all regions, the teams will fight in a single elimination format, bo1 games, up to the semifinals and finals which are best-of-three series.

English broadcast team

DreamLeague brought in the usual suspects for their events to host and commentate the qualifiers. It’s a nice surprise to see Jorien 'Sheever' van der Heijden in the host seat, accompanied by Owen 'ODPixel' Davies, Ioannis 'Fogged' Loucas, and the recently married Jake 'SirActionSlacks' Kanner, who seems like he must have had a short honeymoon to be able to join the crew for the DreamLeague qualifiers.

Prize pool distribution

It goes without saying that the previous seasons prize money for qualifiers are out of the question, simply because there is no LeaguePlay anymore. The entire $1,000,000 sum will be distributed among the eight playoffs LAN finalists as follows:

1st place: $500,000
2nd place: $200,000
3rd place: $100,000
4th place:  $70,000
5th-6th place: $45,000
7th-8th place:  $20,000

For those planning to watch all the LAN action live, from Jönköping, Sweden, the tickets for DreamHack Winter 2017 can be purchased from here.
