The International 2017 action will kick off on the 2nd of August with four days of group stage matches counting for the main event double elimination bracket seeding.

There are 18 teams travelling to Seattle this year to compete in the biggest Dota 2 event, however there is no Wild Card competition ahead of the group stage. The final 16 teams that will make it into the main event will be decided in the group stage which is announced to take place behind closed doors from 2nd to 5th of August. The 18 participating squads will be divided in two groups of nine and will play in a best-of-two Round Robin format for a place in the main event. At the end of the group stage the dreams of two teams will be shattered as the bottom team in each group will be eliminated. The top four in each group will secure themselves an upper bracket start on the big stage of KeyArena while 5th to 8th place in each group will fight for their lives in the lower bracket. The international 2017 main event will commence on the 7th of August, giving all the teams competing a two days rest time after the group stage, and it will conclude on the 12th of August with the best-of-five grand finals that will decide who will become this year’s International Champions.

Player cards and fantasy teams

Until the 2nd of August, when the group stage kicks off, we have nearly one month at our disposal to open the many player card packs we’ve collected since the Battle Pass went live. Those who own a TI 7 Battle Pass perhaps noticed by now that there are two types of player cards available this year, common and premium. The common player pack contains common (blue) player cards and has a chance to drop silver and golden cards while the premium pack contains only silver and golden cards. Duplicate cards can be recycled for a certain amount of dust which can be traded after afterwards for another pack of cards. A common pack requires 10 dusts and a premium pack can be acquired for 50 dusts. Once you finished, if you secured a full team line-up player cards, you can head over to the “Favorite Team” tab in the compendium and set it as your favorite. This will grant you special teleport effects in game, a profile card, team emoticon, and an effigy banner. If you collect a full set of either silver or gold cards for a team you will unlock upgraded versions of each reward. The player cards are also meant to be used for fantasy rosters on each day of The International 7, starting with the group stage. The better fantasy score your teams will achieve, the more fantasy points you will have at the end of the whole event which means better battle pass level points for you, so make sure you open the compendium on a daily basis once the group stage kicks off, and draft your fantasy teams wisely.

The International 7 All-Star match vote

One more feature that is now available for the TI 7 Battle Pass owners, the All-Stars match vote. For the next 17 days you have time to choose from all 90 players that will travel to Seattle, which ten you want to see battling in the All-Stars match. The All-Star match will be played on the big stage of KeyArena in Captain’s Mode and the winning team will take home $100,000.
