One more team from the Chinese region secures its presence at the seventh International as LGD Forever Young’s flawless run in the qualifiers playoffs rewarded them with a ticket to Seattle.
A third place in the Chinese qualifiers group stage gave LFY one more chance at fighting for a spot at The international 7 and they made the best use of it. The playoffs run for LFY includes a 2-1 victory over Chen 'Hao' Zhihao’s Vici Gaming in the first round of the upper bracket and a clean 2-0 sweep against EHOME.Keen in the finals. With three spots up for grabs in the Chinese qualifiers, it means that the playoffs are disputed in a GSL bracket style, where the upper bracket finals and the lower bracket finals winners secure a trip to The International 2017.
To qualify to the biggest event of the year, LFY perfectly executed two fast pace drafts that emphasized the five man push and obviously the team fights. Death Prophet for Xie 'Super' Junhao in both games with an offlane Omniknight in game one and a support Warlock in game two for sustain, while controlling the enemies was Tue 'Ah Fu' Soon Chuan’s job on his signature Earth Spirit which gave LFY the upper hand in all the big engagements. In spite of a bad start in game one, where EHOME. Keen shut down the Death Prophet with early rotations in the mid lane, and also tried to take the map advantage by being the first to take down the top and bottom tier one towers, LFY kept themselves in the game by focusing on EHOME.Keen’s Bristleback. Without their front liner being able to keep up in farm and levels, EHOME.Keen found themselves overwhelmed in team fights and they also completely lost the control over Roshan. With their Weaver going for a Skadi build to kite the Bristleback and the Lifestealer, and with Aegis on him, LFY took the victory in game one with ease.
One victory away from qualifying to TI 7, LFY went on crushing EHOME.Keen in game two. Eighteen minutes into the game they accomplished a team wipe and from there on they snowballed towards victory. The game finished in 30 minutes with an overall kill score of 22 to 6 in LFY‘s favor, who are now the second Chinese qualified team to The International 7. Invictus Gaming Vitality won yesterday the qualifiers group stage and were the first to claim their spot at TI 7 alongside their sister team, Invictus Gaming, who received a direct invite to the event.
One more Chinese team will earn their tickets to Seattle, via the lower bracket series. EHOME.Keen are now in the lower bracket final and are waiting for their opponent to be decided in the Vici Gaming vs LGD Gaming matchup. The action will resume tomorrow, June 30 at 06:00 CEST.
With LFY already qualified and LGD still fighting, the LGD Gaming organization can still hope that they will be traveling with two squads this August to Seattle, same as IG are going to do.
Tomorrow is the last day of TI 7 qualifiers, the Chinese region being the one that will close the show.
