Team NP are the first team to qualify for TI7 from the North America region

The International 7 North American regional qualifiers saw Team NP claim their spot in Seattle after a tie-breaker.

The Tie-Breaker

The round robin group stages for the North American region produced some exciting results, which culminated in both Team NP and Team Freedom having 8 wins and a single loss. Freedom, having beaten NP earlier in the group stages could have secured their spot much earlier, but the pressure of best-of-1’s got to them as they fell to Team Red – who subsequently were eliminated. NP definitely seemed to be hungrier for the win as they did not let their previous loss to Freedom stop them. After an hour long tie-breaker between Team NP and Team Freedom, Jacky ‘EternalEnvy’ Mao and his team claimed their place at The International 7.

The road would not be over for Team Freedom, as they claimed a spot, alongside Planet Odd, in phase 2 of the qualifiers. The other 2 spots for this would also be hotly contested as there would be 3 teams in a tie-breaker. Digital Chaos, Wheel Whreck and compLexity Gaming all ended the round robin on 5 wins and 4 losses – and 1 of the teams would unfortunately be eliminated after the culmination of the tie-breaker (which should be underway as you’re reading this).

With The International 7 almost upon us, we look forward to seeing Team NP’s performances and wish them luck heading towards the massive event.
