After Team Max edged out Newbee.Young 2-1, the Chinese TI7 regional qualifier teams are now officially set. The group stage kicks off tomorrow at 04:00 CEST.
Both Newbee.Young and Team Max had missed out on the opportunity to land a spot for the TI7 regional qualifiers in the first set of Chinese open qualifiers. Newbee.Young had progressed to the quarter-finals before the eventual winning team, EHOME.Keen knocked them out of contention in the one game elimination series. Team Max had advanced only slightly further - into the semi finals where Dango bested them 2:1.
Dusting off their strats and tending to their wounds, the two teams headed back into the fray with one aim - to take the last spot in the regional qualifiers.
Meeting in the grand finals Newbee.Young took the lead with the first win after 45 minutes of play, a flawless performance on the Oracle all carried on the back of a fantastic Spectre played by Tan "JiaJia" Lijia. The tides quickly turned in favor of Team Max in game 2, destroying Newbee.Young in only 23 minutes with a perfect game from Pan "yChen" Shuaifang on Queen of Pain. With everything down to the wire, the deciding third game started out relatively even. Then, 17 minutes into the game, Team Max took the advantage but it took nearly one hour to close out their victory.
