After a slight delay courtesy of Typhoon Merbok, Galaxy Battles LAN is back on track to commence tomorrow, June 15th with the Group Stage starting at 04:30 CEST.
Typhoon Merbok, with its winds of 20 meters per second and heavy rain storms, was no match in the end for the teams and organizers of Galaxy Battles. The show must go on and the stage has been reset with slight modifications to address the delay - squeezing in all the action scheduled into four days of competition.
June 15th will see the group stage played out in its entirety. Four BO1 series - two from each group will be played simultaneously in a back to back sequence with little downtime in between. Seeding will be determined by the end of the day, with the top two seeds being rewarded with spots in the upper brackets. The bottom two teams from each group will fight to the death in the lower bracket to avoid a quick elimination.
Over the span of June 16-18th, the teams will then be participating in a double elimination brackets. The first round of the lower brackets will be an unforgiving best-of-one elimination series - sending two teams home right out of the gate. The remaining matches in the bracket will be best-of-three series, culminating into the best-of-five Grand Finals showdown.
The entire event will be broadcast in English on the Galaxy Battles twitch.tv channel as well as Moonduck.TV Channel 1 and Channel 2.
