Danish Bears and Digital Chaos were eliminated from the Zotac Cup in the first round of playoffs. Fnatic and iG Vitality will advance to face Newbee and NP waiting in the semi finals.
The former Danish C9 roster and Digital Chaos had both taken the third spot in their respective groups yesterday, squeaking by into the playoffs round. Full of hopes and hungry for some success, the teams were met with resistance by the opponents and quickly their dreams were laid to rest.
The new Fnatic squad wasted no time in showing their dominance in the first game of the series. Map control, lead and momentum was all theirs for the taking but Digital Chaos were not intimidated and gave the SEA team a taste of their own medicine in return for game 2. The bitter taste didn't sit well with Fnatic, and they struck out hard and without mercy in the deciding game. In only 23 minutes, they annihilated their opponents and sent the NA team packing. A mid lane Phantom Lancer for Kim "QO" Seon-yeop was not only critical but also played flawlessly.
A last minute addition to the event, iG.Vitality arrived in Taiwan ready to play. Although the Chinese team was able to take a 2:0 sweep over Danes, their victories were much more hard earned, with it being 30 minutes before they could secure a comfortable lead to take the first match and a close call for the second.
Both winning teams will advance to the semi finals where Newbee awaits Fnatic and Team NP will take on iG.Vitality. Both teams will need to step up their game in order to cause an upset over the two tournament and possibly fan favorites of the event tomorrow.
Matches resume June 2nd at 03:50 CEST with Newbee vs Fnatic.
