Newbee make quick work of OG at the Manila Masters in a 2-0 sweep

Newbee played the perfect series against OG to ensure a quick 2-0 victory in their upper bracket clash at the Manila Masters.

Newbee were looking great after a 2-1 victory over Team Secret in their first match-up at the Manila Masters but standing in the way of them moving into the next round in the upper bracket would be the Kiev Major champions, OG. On the back of their win in Kiev, OG were looking almost unstoppable, but Newbee seemed to be a completely new team and would disrupt their flow.

Game One

Within the first minute of the game, OG claimed 3 kills and a 1000 gold lead as Newbee made some rather big errors to put them on the back foot, but by ten minutes, Newbee had managed to pick up a few kills and even out the gold deficit as the game sat at 4-3 in OG’s favour. With Chun 'Sccc' Song on an Ursa, Newbee made light work of Roshan early into the game and began to pull ahead. With just over twenty minutes passed, Newbee looked to be in complete control of the game but OG were able to find some good fights to keep themselves in the running.

With just over thirty minutes passed, Newbee looked set to take the game as they dropped two lanes of barracks before OG managed to stem the bleed a little with a few kills. As a last attempt to claim a foot-hold in the game OG went into the Roshan pit but with Xu 'Moogy' Han still alive on the Anti-Mage, the plan was destined to fail as he managed to snatch the aegis, and with that the Radiant team marched forward and forced out the GG to claim game 1 of the series.

Game Two

The game saw Newbee claim first blood just after 1 minute as they rotated their supports up to Gustav 's4" Magnusson on the Legion Commander in the top lane and brought him down with ease. With ten minutes passed, the game seemed fairly even but OG had pushed down 2 tier 1 towers. The turning point in the game came when OG looked to claim the game’s first aegis at seventeen minutes, Newbee contested this heavily and managed to take the aegis away from the Dire side, along with a few kills.

From that moment, OG seemed to fall apart as Newbee constantly found perfect pick-offs while systematically removing the Dire’s tier 2 towers from the map. With another aegis in hand Newbee marched up to the high ground and ripped through both OG’s team and their base – taking down 2 barracks before the GG came out from OG.

With that, Newbee took a 2-0 series over OG and sent the Kiev Major champions down into the lower bracket. Newbee, however, continue a fantastic run in the upper bracket as they go through into the next round to face either Invictus Gaming or Evil Geniuses.
