Kiev Major: Virtus.Pro send iG.V packing after 2:0 sweep

And then there were 12. In the last series of the night iG.Vitality were sent packing after dropping 2:0 to Virtus.Pro. The Chinese team was the fourth team to end their Kiev Major journey early.

In front of the hometown crowd, Virtus.Pro pulled out yet another series victory and continued to dominate from start to finish.

After a 3:0 record in the group stages, losing only one match to Random Team - Virtus.Pro landed the second spot and seed for the main event.

Their breakout series in the main event pitted the CIS team against iG.V, who had assumed the second to last place in the group stage - having failed to claim a series win.

Hardly a surprise to anyone, Virtus.Pro was able to demolish their opponents with relative ease and continued to run circles around all who oppose them.

Virtus.Pro will continue their trajectory in the Kiev Major brackets - this time challenging VGJ to a duel to the death in another elimination round.

iG.V will walk away with $62,500 in their pocket for their efforts.

Game One:

A Riki pick for iG.V drew a loud reaction from the crowd and provided the audience with an entertaining first few minutes and first blood.

Perfect control for Virtus.Pro throughout the entire game, the CIS team maintained their lead and impressive performances. They executed their draft perfectly, won their lanes flawlessly and shut down any hopes that iG.V had to find a foothold on the map.

A team wipe on iG.V at 33 minutes was enough for the Chinese team to wave the white surrender flag and call GG.

Game Two:

Fluid movements and smooth rotations would reign in the second game for Virtus.Pro - like a well-oiled machine humming along, doing what it was created for.

Despite every attempt by iG.V to keep things close and to turn around the game or slow the pace, their efforts continued to be thwarted by Virtus.Pro's superb game play and outstanding synergy.

As the pressure intensified iG.V just slipped further and further away from contention and any chance to pull things together. Fast paced and super aggressive, the Chinese couldn't keep up with the CIS tempo. Virtus.Pro dealt them the devastating blow just over 30 minutes in and with that gut wrenching loss the Chinese team were sent home.

Kiev Major resumes tomorrow, April 28th at 09:00 CEST with the SEA showdown between TnC Pro and Team Faceless.
