Clutch Gamers continue their uprising in the SEA. The all-Filipino team overpowered Geek Fam 3-0 in the grand finals of ProDota Cup SEA 7 to claim their second title in the series.
Amid the bustle and anticipation of the Kiev Major scheduled to kick off Monday, April 24th - lower tier teams continue to grind it out and pursue their dreams in smaller, less prominant conditions. For these teams, touranments such as PDCup can be the gateway to experience, exposure and eventually a bigger break.
The PDCup SEA 7 came to a close today, witnessing another step taken on the ladder of success for Clutch Gamers. The squad demolished their opponents in the group stage for a flawless 8-0 run. They continued to take the high road, cruising through the playoff stage undefeated as well.
A team worth keeping an eye out for, Clutch Gamers continue to make forward progress, picking up promising talent and generating a lot of buzz. The Malaysian based organization seems to have made a wise choice, picking up the Filipinos back in December when the team first formed.
It was only five days ago that Clutch Gamers upset the SEA region to claim the one allocated spot for the Summit 7.
Less than a month after their formation, the team took second place in PDCup SEA 4 and then followed up with their first championship title several weeks later in PDCup SEA 5. They have since had success in minor events in the region and most notably took a commendable 4th place in the Kiev Major SEA qualifiers.
It was shortly after their participation in the Kiev Major SEA qualifiers that they replaced Avelino "Ab1ng" Parungao with Khim "Gabbi" Villafuerte - the only roster change since the team was created.
